The Villa in Lavinia Reviews

I have stayed in the Villa in Lavinia several times already and always thoroughly enjoyed my stay, which is why I booked it again after an absence of 3 years. These are hard times and we all have to make allowances for this, but I must say that the villa had a bit of a neglected aura. I have travelled a fair bit in the past 3 weeks and was very much spoilt and indulged everywhere, due to the difficult situation and the staff at the Villa in Lavinia also kindly offered emergency lights for the power cut and were very welcoming. Nevertheless, in comparison to some other places the Villa was less sparkling clean and inviting. For instance, there is a lovely little pool and they did offer to clean it for us, if we wanted to use it, but at the risk of sounding petty, it would have been nice, if it had been cleaned prior to our arrival and looking less forlorn. The same goes for breakfast. I fully understand that due to the scarcity of cooking gas and the covid situation, some guest houses are unable to offer breakfast at the moment, even if it is included in the booking. However, most places have reached out to me beforehand to alert me to this fact and apologise, while in this case, I had to enquire about the breakfast at check in, to be told that it wasn’t available. Very minor things, to be sure, but in comparison to some of the fabulous rooms I stayed in recently, this one was not such good value for money. I hope to return again, when times are less tough and the Villa has hopefully had a face lift.
