Arrived very late and we’re still welcome
D with non alcoholic freshly made juice for my self and my littlest extremely accomodating at such a late hour breakfast was a buffet setup with. Oth Western European and traditional Sri Lanka cuisines and we still pretty much could order anything anyway - my daughter wanted western style eggs fried sunny side up on toast cracked them right there in front of here the view was incredible from our room you could hear the ocean crash against the rocks only wish we could have stayed longer really good people place service was exceptional- you. E nice they be nice easy peasy xox

The view is great. It is more enjoyable to see the sea in the room than other hotels. There is an old elevator over 100 years old. The sanitary services are very thoughtful. The rooms are upgraded! There are also big bouquets of flowers in each room, but they are yellow chrysanthemums (the lobby is white chrysanthemums)😄. The TV wiring is not good and needs to be repaired. The old man who always folded paper in the restaurant is no longer here. It is a little regrettable. There are many guests, but fewer European and American guests.

The best place to visit Colombo and stay at mount lavinia hotel super luxury and old history is has been many years staff so friendly room sea view and breakfast super delicious.thank you mr. Chandrasiri And team always good take care and good recommendations for the best cocktail for us surly we will come back to stay here again.

I recently visited Mount Lavinia Hotel with my family for dinner during my stay in Sri Lanka, as it has been one of my favorite hotels for years. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed this time around. The quality and variety of the food have significantly declined, and it’s no longer worth the money. Compared to other competitors, the selection here is quite limited. This might explain the noticeable lack of walk-ins during our visit. On a positive note, the service was satisfactory, but it’s not enough to make up for the drop in food quality. I truly hope management takes steps to restore the standards that once made this place special.

The property location is little interior and away from city. Located beside the beach and the property is one of the oldest and prominent properties in Colombo. When you enter the welcome you feel like entering the British palace, with British dress. Nice ambience, welcomed with cinnamon perfume, lovely staff. We got a suit for ourselves which is really spacious and the view of the sea is astonishing. The restaurant is situated on the roof top of the property with a beautiful view of the sea and swimming pool. The name itself suggests Governor Restaurant which is an unique name. Had a nice time. You have railway station at walking distance and a restaurant just out side the gate, and Mount Lavinia city is just 1 to 2 km away. Only faced problem while checking out, had to call 3 times for porter and 30 minutes for the porter to come, which made my Airport schedule late, which made my driver to drive fast , which cost us a police fine too. Try to check out 1 hour before if you have scheduled departures.

Our first visit was in 2016, and we had good memories of that stay. That is why we booked three nights again in December 2024. Our second visit was not that great because we found the hotel to be lacking international standards. We do understand that the hotel suffered a lot from the pandemic business loss, but we felt that a bit more could have been done to keep the standards after five years or at least reduced the price for foreigners to fit the standards the hotel currently offered. We had a difficult time getting towels to use in the gym after asking over 4 times. The answer was that the laundry machine was broken. The gym was filthy, and most machines were broken. We managed to do some exercise with the two working machines. Live music at dinner was way too loud and played until close to 11 p.m., which made it difficult to rest in the evening or even hear the TV. Breakfast buffet was good, but we opted not to eat all our meals eat at the hotel. Staff members were nice, and we had a comfortable room with nice ocean view. We hope the hotel can pull the standards back up to be more appealing to international guests.
