I saw the hotel that the website said that there are children's entertainment facilities, I was still thinking, I've been there a few times, but I didn't find any children's entertainment facilities, it really isn't! This point should modify the web page introduction. The hotel has a good view, the beach is clean and flat, and the service is excellent. A very tasteful hotel, full of British colonial style, is worth a try.

The Villa in Lavinia is in a beautiful old building. From the road doesn't look so great but inside is very nice. The owner Tyrone made us feel very welcome and all the staff were kind and friendly. The hotel is convenient for getting into Colombo. Many nearby buses go there. Also a nearby supermarket and several good restaurants. The part of the beach near to the hotel is not so nice but is better if you walk further down towards the big and famous Hotel Mount Lavinia. We stayed 5 nights but the hotel and the area is probably better suited to shorter stays. Room simple but adequate. Very good internet connexion. All in all, a pleasant stay.

The hostel has the best location: really calm area, just 200mts from the beach and 15 minutes by train from the city center (Colombo). Good atmosphere. Amazing common area. Beautiful sea view. We spent five nights at the lavinia house and we had a lovely time there. We interacted with the owner Nevile, staff and the also the other guest. The place allows you to store your meals if you like to cook. It was is a minute walk to the beach. Station, supermarkets and restaurants. We had a big Room and it’s really clean. Bed was so comfortable and shower was good with hot water, very smart clean bathroom. The common area has a lovely decor and daylight. Great value for money!
