Aquamarine Guest House

It could be the best in the area for the price. But for me, I wish I had stayed in another area. Car parking is difficult. We received a cool welcome, no help with luggage, little information other than if we wanted the shuttle to local restaurants it needed to be booked early. We were not show around the hotel. I felt this place was very much a basic Bed & Breakfast. The room was simple and lacking in welcome. There is no air con ( not that it was needed as it was s cold) there is a ceiling fan. The doors to balcony don’t fully meet, but are secure - daylight can be seen through them and howling wind canes in. The curtains don’t meet or overlap and the doors face the sunrise. It is very light in the morning. Our bed had a dirty / stained duvet cover placed dirty side down on the bed.saying that, the bed had great sheets and blankets. The mattress on the bed was adequate - you do feel every time your partner moves. Pillows to tall for me. The safe won’t fit much more than a wallet. The bathroom is nice - bath, shower and dual sinks. Finding our way to breakfast was a challenge with many locked entrances. After other guest house stays in South Africa we felt that the food at breakfast was poor quality. Overall very disappointing and I won’t return

A basic no frills guest house hotel. Beds are standard doubles and small by hotel standards. The rooms were clean but basic. The welcome was swift and business like but again no frills. The view from the rooms was lovely. The fabric of the hotel is of low standard and noisy both from transferred between rooms and outside traffic sounds. The quality of the food at breakfast was low but edible. We stayed one night and were glad to leave for our next destination. Parking is tight but we did get the mini van in, just !!!! Just stayed one night but friendly welcome, clean spacious room with good facilities and great views. Pool a little small and it was up the hill. Free shuttle bus worked well though.

What a treasure! We absolutely loved this guest house ... with the exception of navigating a heart-stopping steep driveway that I wouldn't have attempted but which luckily didn't faze my husband. The staff was exceptionally friendly and attended to every detail like it was their mother-in-law's visit! We stayed in a room that had a view of the ocean and our own private deck - after visiting the Point of Human Origins with its challenging steps we stayed in the room and just enjoyed viewing the harbor. The breakfast was substantial and varied - eggs the best ever! Also enjoyed the Post Office Tree - I look forward to returning!

We stayed only one night but were wishing we could stay longer. The rooms were big and bright and clean. It was quiet and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We had an enormous balcony overlooking the sea and the breakfast room tables also looked out to the sea. The breakfast was great and made to order. The location was okay but up a fairly steep slope (hence the views) so walking back from the centre would be difficult. Overall I would highly recommend Aquamarine.

Good situation, easy to find, with great sea view, lovely ground floor room, looking over small pool, safe parking. Big room and en-suite, all a little tired but clean and comfortable. Good night’s sleep, friendly staff and good breakfast too.
