Hotels in Plateau Mont Royal, Montreal

I have stayed many times at the Square Phillips, a hotel owned, I believe the same group. I assumed that the Appartement Hotel would be similar. I was disappointed however. Although this one night stay was okay, the room carpet is in need of refreshing. My travelling companion felt that the bathroom was not adequately cleaned. In short, the price made the one stay acceptable, but I certainly would not stay for a longer period.

This hotel is a little gem in a super area of downtown Montreal. The room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable, with high-quality sheets and a good selection of comfortable pillows. A kitchenette made it very easy to pick up salads or snacks to refrigerate or reheat leftovers from a restaurant the night before. Breakfast is included and there’s a good selection of fruit, boiled eggs, smoked salmon, deli meats and yogurt. Cereals as well. While there were scrambled eggs, I tried them twice but not cooked to my taste. Having said that, there were fresh pastries and bagels, so a bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon with some fruit served very well. This hotel is very walkable to Notre Dame, Place des Arts and several theatres and museums. Lots of great restaurants to suit anyone’s tastes. The subway is literally a 3-minute walk and in 10 minutes, you can be at the Jean Talon Market, which has a plethora of foods and drinks to suit anyone’s taste palate. I’d highly recommend Hotel and Spa Carre St. Denis and will definitely be back next time I visit Montreal.

The room was ok, clean and modern. The window views were too close to the windows of neighboring buildings so we sadly had to keep the curtains closed for privacy. The location was convenient with plenty of restaurants, parks and shops within walking distance, and a short uber ride from old Montreal. The biggest problem is a hidden fee, they inflate the tax value and call it ”VAT Tax” which ends up being around 3-4x the normal tax amount, and it turns out that was just how they hide a ”Property Fee” while making their rates look lower and more competitive during the booking process, I don't think it's legal to call something tax when it's not being passed to the government! They want to be listed like a hotel and with deceptively lower rates, when it seems they are an AirBNB and need to hide a cleaning fee as Tax.

I often go to Montreal, and it was the best hostel among them. The location of the hostel is good, so it's good to go out and there are many restaurants around, so it's great to enjoy a meal! However, due to the problem of the building itself, interstory noise (footprints on the upper floors, water dropping, etc.) occurs, so be careful if you are sensitive to noise!

The location of the apartment is very convenient, just in the city center, it is very convenient to walk to the core attractions, the whole apartment is very spacious and the space is quite large, you can wash clothes, the kitchen bathroom is also very large, the facilities are complete, we are very satisfied 👍
