This Auberge Saintlo Hostel has a very nice location in Montreal nearly the Metro and Downtown. The staffs are very friendly and nice and also nice breakfast every morning.

It’s a great place for a solo traveler. It has it’s own bathroom in the room which is great.

Apart from being expensive, there are basically no other problems. There are bed curtains, but they don't cover the entire bed. I think this design is a good balance between the privacy of the personal rest space and the openness that a youth hostel should have. p.s. If you mind mixed sex accommodation, choose carefully.

We were a large group of mostly seniors who stayed here while attending the Jazz Festival. I stayed with 3 friends in room 203, which included 2 sets of bunk beds and a private bathroom. The room was very clean with new laminate flooring. Each bed had a reading lamp. The beds were comfortable with a great duvet but the pillows were very flat. Half of us found the A/C too cold and 1/2 found it not cold enough. (Can’t please everyone). We found it very quiet for sleeping at night but the heavy doors could not be closed quietly.  Breakfast in the basement was included in the price and included bagels, buns, cream cheese, peanut butter, jam, cereal, apples, bananas, juice, coffee. Boiled eggs were offered on the weekend and coffee was available  all day. The large kitchen is fully stocked with all the appliances, pots, pans, cutlery and dishes one would ever need and guests are responsible for washing and drying their own dishes. There is a bar, pool table, music and sitting and eating area in the basement, as well as public bathrooms.  All of the staff at Saintlo are very pleasant, friendly and extremely  helpful with providing directions and answering questions. This was the cleanest hostel I have ever stayed . I found it a bit pricey, but maybe that was because of the ideal location in downtown Montreal. We walked everywhere from here. Highly recommended!

I stayed in a private room, which had it's own ensuite, towels, soap and fan. The room was clean and spacious and had air con. Lots of hooks on the walls which was handy to dry my towels/some laundry. Bed was pretty comfy (mattress is plastic so no chance of ever getting bed bugs!) and I slept pretty well. There is a light, shelf and power outlet next to the bed. The staff were lovely. There are 2 washers and dryers - about $3 CAD a load. Fantastic location and I was able to easily walk down to Old Montreal. My only negative is that the walls are incredibly thin and you can hear the conversation of the people in the room next door!
