We stayed at this property while in town for a concert. I would have thought from outside the building that this was an older property; nothing was bad, but it just made me think it had been here a few years due to the paint scheme. Once inside - it felt like the builders had just left that same day. Everything was nice, pristine, spotless. The lobby/check-in was this way as well as the room. I have to admit, I am not a hotel snob - but I always joke that some of my family are. This property was everything we would have wanted in a Holiday Inn: nice, clean, comfortable room with welcoming, courteous, helpful staff.

What sets the hotel apart is exceptional customer service from the moment you check in. The newly renovated hotel is kept in pristine shape and the staff is friendly and helpful. Plus you can unwind with fellow patrons guests or business colleagues at the lobby bar that runs Monday through Saturday from 4-10 p.m. with happy hour from 4-7 p.m. There are other excellent amenities available during your stay. When you wake up in the morning indulge in the FREE hot Bright Side Breakfast which includes a choice of scrambled eggs waffles breakfast meats assorted breads and pastries yogurt fruit and much more. If you want to grab a quick snack or some travel necessities visit the onsite Bright Side Market. Other highlights include a basketballtennis court a state-of-the-art fitness center and an outdoor swimming pool.

I have been here for nearly a month and I really do not have many complaints. The stag here are very kind. They are very accommodating which is rare in the hotel industry ironically enough. They allowed my dog here and have never been disrespectful. The only complaints I have is that if I needed linens or clean towels in the middle of the night for some reason or if I needed to sweep something up and the maids are gone, you don’t get anything outside if the maids hours of operation. That’s really it!

Pros: Comfortable bedding, plenty of drawers. Cons: One set of reading lamps over the bed didn't work and the fixtures were loosely attached. Rust on the two light fixtures in the bathroom, plus shower light was out. Two bugs found and some strands of long hair attached to the walls of the shower Had a stomper above us late at night and very early in the morning. Room located near the balcony and could hear front desk conversations along with other travelers and phone conversations. Surprisingly, had to put a $40 deposit for ”just in case”, but would be refunded in a few days--no mentioned of this charged when booked. If you stay more than one night, be sure to notify front desk if you want to have your room clean; otherwise, it will remain the same until you leave, I guess. In the bathroom, a chunk of wood was missing from the bathroom door frame exposing the sheet rock. The bathroom's exhaust fan made a loud screeching noise when it was turned on for several minutes.....bearings worn out? I can only speculate that booking this room through a website resulted in poor room assignment. The Marriott caliber did not meet my expectations, and I won't be returning to this hotel. Absolutely disappointed. I hope this is not a practice of hotel management in treating customers with sub standard accommodations by booking through independent trip websites. I

I made this reservation due to my power being out from deadly storms which left almost 900,000 people without power in Houston. We were without power for a couple days and didn’t know when it would be our turn for power to be restored. I have two kids and with temperature outside reaching 92 I quickly booked the reservation for 2 days (Saturday – Monday morning) to escape the heat. About 4 hours after checking in (about 8pm) I received a notification stating our power had been restored. I spoke with the front desk and asked about getting a refund for Sunday since our power was on again. She stated she would ask her manager Chirag Bhakta in the morning. I checked out Sunday before 11am with the same front desk lady and she said Mr. Bhakta wasn’t there yet and to call later and handed me his business card. After returning home I called and was told they would not give me a refund because I had prepaid. I explained the situation and that I had given plenty of time for them to book the room out to another customer. She said yes, they did book it already to someone but they still had to stick to their no refund policy. You would think during times like this they would have a heart and give a refund especially since I gave plenty of notice. We lost all of our refrigerated food due to the power being out for so long. I booked through hotels.com and was asked for a CC at check in for incidentals, which is normal. I was given a piece of paper to put on our dashboard. A $20 hold was placed on our CC. At 1:30am I received a text that a $10 charge had been hit our CC. I inquired about the charge at check out the next morning and was told this was for parking and should have been told at check-in. She stated the fee is also on the website. It is not. The hotels.com website states ”parking available” and ”self parking” is listed in amenities. There is nothing about a fee. This is a no-frills hotel with a very small, unsecured parking lot. So, just a heads up there. Our room was very spacious and clean (King with couch). The bed was comfortable. The bathroom had a very nice large shower stall with pump bottles of shower gel, shampoo & conditioner. I really liked this as it's economical for the hotel and convenient for the guest. There was not a blow dryer in our room but I was able to get one from the front desk. The A/C was a problem. There is not an option to keep the fan on so the air circulates. The room would get stuffy & hot when the A/C was not blowing so we didn't sleep very well. A ceiling fan in the room would have alleviated the issue. The hotel is located very close to the highway so expect to hear a lot of traffic noise. Bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. Breakfast was so-so. The area is small and not enough seating. The check-in staff were very friendly - the check-out, not so much. I have a feeling she gets asked often about the sneaky parking fee since the check-in staff did not mention it. Had we not received a text in the middle of the night, we wouldn't have known we were charged for parking until we received our credit card statement because we usually take advantage of 'express check-out' without going to the desk.
