My spouse and I were looking for a quiet, cozy winter retreat to enjoy with our dog to celebrate our anniversary. This was a perfect weekend - where to start? Dog-friendly: Finding someplace dog-friendly and not just dog tolerant was a high priority. Darren and Lynn are fellow dog lovers and were happy to greet our puppy as they showed us around. They also provided a complimentary dog bed, bowl, towels and treats. The pet fee is a flat fee rather than per night like most places. There are easy-to-find trash receptacles for dog waste, plus extra bags if you need them. It was easy to feel comfortable with our dog here, both in our suite and on the grounds outside. Our room: The dog-friendly Terrier Suite was warm, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the jetted bathtub, fresh robes and stocked mini fridge and complimentary snacks after coming back in out of the cold. We had the added bonus of being very close to the outdoor hot tub and the main house. Activities: We purchased the "I Hate Skiing" package, which included complimentary massages at the on-site Spa Vermont. Also included in the package were free snowshoe rentals - we enjoyed a lovely hike within short driving distance of the inn. This was all followed up by an afternoon in the hot tub and some of the local craft beers that are available to purchase on-site. The main house also offers a board game and DVD library, and a living room with a fireplace to sit and relax after a day of hiking or skiing. Food: Phineas Swann offers complimentary hot breakfast each morning (the blackberry stuffed French toast was a highlight!) as well as a breakfast bar. Snacks, sodas, coffee and tea are available in the main house. Beer and wine are available for purchase. There are a small handful of restaurant options nearby. Overall a wonderful weekend - we plan to visit again!

The folks at Phineas Swann gave our Brooklyn family the most needed break from city winter, even in sub-zero Vermont temperatures! Cozy, comfortable, plenty of room for all. The living room in the main house provided a convivial atmosphere after skiing, the prepared breakfast was delicious (and different each day), and Darren and Lynne were welcoming, hospitable and made things easy. Very good communication. We'll gladly stay again!

This was the perfect location for our ski vacation in Vermont. Darren & Lynne are the best hosts who provide a home away from home experience with comfy suites, delicious breakfast and spa facility! We hope to return to Phineas Swann in the future.

Warm welcome and quick tour of what came with our stay (which included cookies!). Settled down in our super cute room with plenty of pillows to choose from. The hot tub was relaxing in a nice setting. Walked down the street for dinner and had a very restful sleep. Very much recommend!

Loved this inn in Montgomery. Next time will stay more than one night. The little add ons and inclusions made the stay for us. The spa on site, sauna and hot tubs to use by guests, great breakfast, genuine friendly people. Beautiful surroundings add to the overall experience. Comfy beds, not for short people!!

Darren & Lynne and staff are the greatest. We have been traveling to Inns and B&B's for over 30 years. Now we have found another gem. Darren & Lynne were so accommodating for us. We will never forget how we were treated, and the beautiful Inn. This Inn has just been added to our list. It's what you need when you want to get away!

This was one of the loveliest inns I've stayed at. My fiance and I took a mini-vacation over the weekend and we stayed at the Phineas Swann. Lynn and Darren went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. They're wonderful. I would highly recommend this inn.

Staff is very friendly, helpful and accommodating. We requested a first floor room with some accessibility for crutches and were pleased with our resulting ease in settling in. The bed was very comfortable. The hot tubs were both disappointedly tepid and the spa was not available at the time we went. Gina prepared a delicious hot breakfast with fruit, and we greatly enjoyed visiting with the other guests. Even though visiting in the Vermont "stick" season, we still had Sunday evening dining options close by. We want to return in the summer to see the splendors of the garden in bloom.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at the Phineas Swan. The eclectic 1880 farmhouse is amazing inside and out. The spa is a wonderful addition. Although the home is historic, it is updated. Very quiet and quaint. Wonderful cooked and cold breakfast is complimentary. Along with sodas, water, snacks and candy. Alcohol is on honor code. Town is walkable and safe. Restaurants and market nearby. We will definitely stay again if back in area. We came to enjoy Jay Peak Resort, less than a 15 minute drive away. P.S. Take time to read the history of the farmhouse, town and covered bridges in the binder in your room!
