Best Hotels near Paso de la Arena, Montevideo

I stayed at the Pocitos Plaza Hotel for 3 months, so my experience is vast regarding the service they offer. It was my second time since I went with my daughter in 2018. It is an excellent place in terms of service, quality and very friendly customer service, from getting taxis when it is raining a lot and it is rush hour traffic, to helping me weigh my suitcase when I am not alone. I could carry it. The service is efficient and careful, with a friendly smile always, although everyone is busy all the time. I worked online, and the internet was stable and secure, another important factor. I especially appreciated the professionalism of the administration, with Gervasio, Federico, Fernando, Martina (always drinking mate), Diego and the fabulous Fabian, the kindness in person! All the maids were very helpful, but the best one to prepare and clean the room was Cecilia, whom I hope to see the next time I return to Montevideo. The afternoon tea was always excellent, with a variety of teas and sweets for snacks. A special mention to Lucia's smile in the kitchen. Thank you Pocitos Plaza Hotel!!! I'm going to miss them when I return to Toronto.

The hotel is very close to the bus station, opposite the station, the car to the east corner and the airport are all here by car, very convenient. It is 6,7 kilometers away from the old city. In Uruguay, be sure to go to Punta del Este in the east corner and the small town of Colonia. These two places are much better than the capital and feel much better. They are all at the bus station. It is two hours to go to the east corner and two and a half hours to the town of Colonia. Both places are recommended to stay for at least one night.

The rooms are comfortable, and although they are not that big, I had plenty of space. The temperature in the room was quite comfortable, so I didn’t even turn the heater on in any day. Breakfast was nice, and the “doce de leite” was incredibly good. The only things that would benefit from improvement would be: restaurant (the food at dinner was not worthy the money at all), availability of cork screw and wine glasses in the room. I wanted to open a wine bottom and the hotel sent someone to open the bottle for me, instead of sending the cork screw…

Every aspect of the place exceeded my expectations. Excellent value for the price. The host was also fantastic. Nothing negative I can think of at all. The pictures speak for themselves regarding the excellent room I stayed in. :)

Hotel in excellent location and with excellent infrastructure. Breakfast very good, as well as room cleaning, cabin service and staff service. It is worth hosting in London Palace for the service of your staff, from the reception staff to the educated lady that heated my dinner in the evening. In addition, the fact that the garage is in the hotel itself and we have access to the car in a way. fast and easy, even at the arrival that we can already place directly in the garage and check in. We stayed here for one night in mid-January and found it to be a wonderful location, right in the heart of the old city. We were walking distance to the port, areas of the old town, and many attractions and plazas. The staff was very friendly and happy to answer questions in English, recommending restaurants and sights to see. They were also happy to hold our luggage for us the day we checked out until our afternoon departure. Each room is apparently unique, and ours was beautiful, with a comfortable bed and an obviously updated bathroom with modern fittings and conveniences. Our room was on the first floor (one above ground level) and we did hear some road noise in the morning as the city started walking, so if you're concerned about noise you may want to request a higher floor. Breakfast was included in our stay and had very good options, both hot and cold.

We had no problems with the hotel, its location or cleanliness. However, we were double charged for our room back in March 2022 and 7 months later have still not received a refund. Upon check in the girl charged our credit card the incorrect amount for our booking. When I pointed out the error, she recharged my credit card in the correct amount and said she would issue a credit once she asked someone who knew how to process it. Shortly after we were issued a credit and given the appropriate slips indicating the 2 charges and the credit charges to my card. When we arrived home I noticed 2 charges from the hotel on my credit card statement but no credit. For some reason the credit has never processed to my credit card. Up on closer inspection of the credit slip I noticed it says INCORRECTO at the bottom and therefore never got processed. I have sent numerous emails trying contact someone at the hotel since this booking trying to get my $463.50 USD refund; and no one will return my emails or my phone calls. I even had the booking agency contact the hotel (***********) and they still will not correct this matter. This is not a big hotel (it has 21 rooms) and at the time of our stay it had very few bookings so reconciling this matter should not be a problem. I wonder if they make a practice of doing this type of thing??

Right next to the famous attractions, it is already a good local hotel.

We stayed for 4 nights at this hotel together with our 2 kids. We expected it to be a business hotel with comfort and some luxury. At least cleanliness. Well it wasn’t. It might be a 4 star hotel for Uruguayan standards, but for the rest of the world its more like a 2 star old fashioned 60s hotel. We had a family room (2 bedroom) on the 7th floor. Already exiting the elevator we knew what we could expect. Floors with old carpet and full with nasty stains. The entire floor smells old and a bit like old sigaret smoke. Pretty nasty actually. The room itself is similar. Old floor with broken tiles and edges. Really sober and uninviting room, no decorations whatsoever. No ceiling lights. Old furnishings. No curtains just a screen. A big disappointment actually. Gym wasn’t available. We took a look but I wouldt even dare using those old machines actually. Certainly when you consider the price per night this place just isnt worth it. So after a night we expected a breakfast with some sort of business standard. But also the breakfast is a big disappointment and actually pretty tasteless. I dont know what they add to the scrambled egg, but smells weird. Fruits are out of date and nasty. Dry bread. Cold scrambled egg. And due to covid it is not allowed to get to the food yourself. One (sometimes 2) person is helping everyone in the hotel, so that didnt really work out. On day 3 all of the sudden our cards to enter the room didn’t work anymore, ofcourse solved at the reception but still annoying and strange. Well at least the free wifi worked well here. Overall I would recommend to book a different place with a higher standard, NH is a bit of disappointment considering the price per night.

The hotel is very comfortable and spacious. The staff is super friendly (cristans in reception, Fernando and Pamela in Figaro (restaurant) and forgive I have not the name of the rest!! all toto are super friendly! . breakfast is soft but rich and fresh, and it has everything fundamental.
