This is a wonderful place to stay for nature lovers. And it’s only a 5 minute walk to downtown Santa Elena. Dylan at reception booked 2 tours for me. One to Selvatura in the cloud forest & an evening walk through the forest with a guide. Both tours were fantastic. Selvatura has ziplines, hanging bridges, sloth, butterfly, reptile & amphibian habitats. Dylan also suggested a great Italian restaurant called Tramonti which is only a couple of miles from the lodge. I stayed in one of the cabins at Jaguarundi Lodge. Upon arrival at the lodge, I was greeted by howler monkeys that live in a tree outside of reception. A family of Guatusa lived near the path that led to my cabin. And there was a family of 8 Pizote that would visit me in the late afternoon. I saw a Toucan outside my cabin & various other birds. The cabin had a refrigerator & a small table & 2 chairs. There were also 2 chairs outside the cabin door that were perfect for wildlife viewing. There were a couple of shelves inside the cabin & also a place to set your suitcase so it isn’t in the floor. Breakfast was at Ficus, the sister property next door. It was a good buffet & in the evening they have a 2 for 1 happy hour before dinner. The restaurant has a balcony with views of the Nicoya Peninsula. I had dinner in the restaurant the night I arrived which was just what I needed after my drive from Arenal. Everything at Jaguarundi Lodge was perfect for 3 nights next to Costa Rica’s famous cloud forests.
