My wife and I stayed here as part of a tour of Florence and Tuscany for four nights. It is, literally, in the middle of nowhere with lots of free parking. Situated all on the ground floor in numbered blocks, i.e, our side you walked through the (numbered) 300’s, 200’s into the 100’s along a corridor with threadbare carpet in the floor (the covering had worn through to the backing on a lot of them). The first impression of my wife was ‘a nursing home’, very old furniture everywhere, verging on antique , in the corridors and in the rooms. No sign of any mini bar (advertised), no kettle or other facilities for making a drink, but we were told that water would be exchanged daily, except in our case, no one did after the first night. The drinking ‘glass’ provided was a very thin plastic one, we thought they were disposable, but found we had to use them over and over again (after first night stupidly threw ours out and had to ask for replacements). We had possibly the worst room in the whole complex, 110, freezing cold, couldn’t get air conditioning on to heat the place, north facing (no sun, 2 metres from trees, no natural light, outward facing and the lighting not good) and were shocked to be told that those with inward facing rooms (south facing) were too hot, but they faced the outdoor pool and had a table and chair outside to sit in the sun, not that we would have sat outside but there wasn’t room for them outside our outer door. The bed was big, no noise, slept well. On the first night a ‘reception’ before evening meal, of Prosecco (unlimited) and bits to eat - wonderful. The evening meal, ordered the night before, was really absolutely excellent, fine dining at its finest with excellent, very rich, food. Breakfast a bit restricted with just two cereals, (lots of other things) and someone should really explain the whoever cooks the bacon how to cook it, it appeared to be mostly uncooked raw warm bacon. Streaky bacon is meant to be cooked. On a coach tour you are a little restricted on what one can do, a walk away from the hotel not recommended due to the fast road outside, We did use the pool, a little chilly outdoors and purchased pool towels at €5.00 for hire. The room and corridors appeared very clean (although, as stated no natural light in our room).
