I stayed at the Tradewinds in Carmel while on a road trip up the California Coast. Carmel is a beautiful, small town and is known to be very expensive so this hotel was priced well for the area and the type of property.
PROS: The hotel is small but really nice and well-kept. It has a bed & breakfast feel. The rooms are a bit small, but good for two people. The bathrooms are nice and very clean. At night you have to make your breakfast selection on a piece of paper the staff leaves in your room and the next morning the staff brings it to your door. It was a good amount of food and they had healthy options.
CONS: The parking lot is free, but it’s small and fills up quickly. We had to park on the street one night. It’s also very dark outside and isn’t walking distance to anything. It’s up on a hill too so you definitely need a car to get around (as in most of California). The hotel is a bit hard to find at first as well.
OVERALL: If you have a car, this is a great hotel to stay in while visiting Carmel. You get the small town vibe and it is a short drive to the main streets and the beach. I would stay here again while visiting the area.
