Outstanding location, beautiful drive from Monterey if you go through Jolon, you drive through the national forests. Stop in Gorda for a meal and pick up wine/snacks and then settle into the environment. Cozy Cabin like rooms, with the waves racing to the shore below the cliffs. Ambiance ;)

This place is amazing! The view is incredible. The room was cozy, clean and modern. I would definitely recommend staying here. The drive up is wonderful with many places to stop and enjoy. The restaurant is closed in the little town, but you can buy snacks. The prices were a bit high though.

The motel is located at the end of hwy 1 just before the closure and the area is absolutely deserted. Nobody is the office, they leave the key in a box with instructions and you are stuck far from everything with no cellular service. The ”breakfast” is a joke and there is no coffee or fridge. The motel is really worn down and imho absolutely not worth the price ($250), except for one thing: the view. You can see a beautiful sunset over the ocean (if the weather gods) will and then go to sleep, provided that you already had your dinner somewere else before you arrival. If you thinkthat this is worth the price, stay here, otherwise spend your money somewhere else.

Do not book this place unless you want to be stuck in a remote area with no cell service. There are no owners or anyone on the premises. NOONE. They leave “lockbox” instructions and that’s it. Rt 1 is closed at the edge of the property and it’s really very scary. The place is clean but very very run down. We didn’t end up staying even though we had paid in advance.

We had a terrible experience. The room was not worth what they charge! Subpar at best!! Not to mention that the customer service is nonexistent and unacceptable. The room was not cleaned to my standards. The front desk did not seem to care and acted like my concerns were invalid. We will never stay there again!!! Beware… there’s more hotels in the area that are of greater value and a bang for your buck!!

The motel is amazingly quaint and in the most gorgeous setting. Be sure to take time to hike around the property. Although the contact-free check-in/check-out process worked well, it would have been sweet to have someone on site. This is an especially fun place to visit after watching the Nurse Ratched series with Sarah Paulson.

We went in November for 2 nights after 2 prior visits had to be cancelled to road closure and the fires. We stayed in room 7. Loved it. Just to sit and listen to waves, the views kept us in awe. However, I will say, the rooms behind us, or at least maybe the last one connected to room 7, was loud. You could hear the people talking. They came in super late. We walked to the end and up the hill for another overlook. We took a glass of wine up there and just sat with the sunset. Met some great guys from San Fran and ended up outside for 4 hours chatting with them in the adirondack chairs, listening to the waves and watched shooting stars. You go here to relax, not watch TV and play on your phone. Breakfast was placed in bags in a cooler. Simple breakfast, no complaints. Muffins, hard boiled egg, juice. Maybe a protein bar? If there are issues with the roads/fires, do not blame them. You also need to communicate ahead of time if arriving late. It is in an area with nothing around. We were saddened when the restaurant burned down. Just plan ahead.
