Hotel Panoramic Montepulciano

I stayed at the beginning of November at this hotel and had 2 superior rooms with a balcony. The rooms were very large, clean, with some view from the balcony and modern bathrooms. At the reception there was a very kind lady who gave us a lot of useful information about the area. Also in the evening there was a gentleman who helped us with recommendations. Secure parking with enough places. The view from the hotel terrace is superb. The breakfast was great, the coffee and croissants were good, but at an Italian hotel it can only be an Italian breakfast with quite a lot of sweets, we improved it with some juice and it was perfect. Anyway, the lady who served breakfast was extremely kind. The only inconvenience for us was that there was no heat in the room, but that depends on the culture of each people, we usually stay at 22-23 degrees in the house from October to March. We thank the hotel staff for everything and hope to come back again.

Not a pleasant memory. Sorry to say, as the place seems nice as far as the house and location goes. But the problem is that the owner's communication skills needs some serious work. So we went there to take three rooms with our small group of friends. As we arrived there was a guy behind the counter who we greeted and he said that we should wait outside until owner arrives. So we did. After a while there were more people coming and after a 15-20 min waiting they either got their rooms or just left. Time went by, but nobody came to ask us what are we waiting for. So we left. Not a problem. I wrote a reply to the owner on their google site and what followed was unbelievable, owner didn't even ask what the problem was, but just started to insult my family as I was raised bad and didn't get enough education from my parents, that is why I can't wait like 'civilized' people and so on. The rant was funny to read, but the owner seems mentally non-stable so I hope they get the medical help they need. Until then I would avoid the place.

The hotel has an amazing location on the top of hill with unique views (unable to describe, just see it!). Nor far from the city of Montepulciano, however a series of curves and no pavements make the walk risky. A car or a public transport are necessary to travel safely. 1. The staff is very kind and eager to solve all issues. At the time of booking they discussed with us the details of all room types to avoid any disappointment. During the check-in all rules were explained. They helped us to call a taxi driver (we do not speak Italian), recommended local food, best parking lot in Siena, etc. Perfect English. Important, when you don’t speak Italian. 2. The rooms. Many depends on the room type, its location and size. All are clean, the cleaning staff visits them every day. Towels and bedclothes were changed frequently. Air conditioning worked effectively, on demand (operated from the reception), however its need strongly depends on the room location (the best have sunny mornings and a hot atmosphere). We had a room with a side view and needed it once. Some rooms have a small number of power outlets (important, when children need to charge everything…). 3. Breakfasts. You can choose either sweet or savory version, or both. Not many place to have a breakfast in the morning (there is a need to schedule it the day before). However, it’s a very pleasant experience - amazing views, the rising sun, lizards, squirrels, birds, etc. 4. Amenities. Table tennis, tennis, swimming pool. No bar, no restaurant. All eating outside the hotel. Not a flaw, hundreds of places serve excellent local food and wine. But you need a way of transport. On foot is possible, but very hot… 5. Mosquitoes. There are many. If you or your child are fragile or allergic, prepare repellents. Evenings and nights are with mosquitoes. Not a hotel specific feature, they’re everywhere. In general, it’s a very quiet and lovely place to sleep and rest after visiting picturesque Tuscany. I was amazed with the silence in the night. No tourists walking in the street below the window, no city events. Just silence. Again, we thank the staff for their kindness and a very pleasant stay.

Nicely located just 5 mins outside Montepulciano with a great view of Tuscany the place has great potential. However the service has been scaled down to basics. No extra towels for a pool swim, a vending machine has replaced a hotel bar, the lobby is uninviting. With a little effort the place would have been great, but instead the facilities come up short in too many situations.
