I have slept in this hotel only for one night, my boyfriend got it as a birthday surprise for me. We were warmly welcomed by the girl for the check in. The hotel is located in the beautiful castle of Montegridolfo. Very nicely decorated and clean our suite was in the tower overlooking all the hamlet and the surrounding hills. Our room was really impressive and it felt like being in a fairy tail. There is also a beautiful garden with a swimming pool overlooking the countryside which was very enjoyable. Because of the new Covid rules there was no buffet breakfast but we could still choose for homemade cakes and biscuits, croissants and tea and cappuccino. Would surely recommend this place, it’s unique in its charm.

I hate to give such a terrible review, but it reflects how I was ultimately treated. The staff was initially friendly, and the location was beautiful, but there were too many flaws. When we arrived, we discovered that only suitcases with children can be carried up the stairs with a caddy, while I had to walk up with my dog. Despite being a 4-star hotel and not cheap, there's no baggage delivery service. The receptionist kindly helped us even though I said it wasn't necessary, and while grabbing my son's very nice suitcase, she accidentally dropped it on the uneven cobblestones in front of the hotel, causing a deep scratch in the plastic on the front. When I noticed the damage, I reported it to the hotel and subsequently emailed them to request compensation. They explained what happened without any intention of accusing anyone, and I also explained the sentimental (as well as financial) value of the suitcase I had given to my son. I received a cold, unsympathetic reply that I was the one who dropped the suitcase and that, "due to the lack of causal link," they would not reimburse me, even though they were insured. I wrote back, reiterating the facts, but received no response: I'm truly speechless. Where is all the kindness you showed during our stay? I should add that we couldn't stay with the air conditioning on at night, despite the heat, because it was extremely noisy. An air conditioner from an unknown brand is not up to the standards of a hotel like this. The problem is that, given the heat in the room, we left the windows open without screens, and we were literally swarmed by mosquitoes. Finally, a €10 Spritz by the pool at the bar, with only a few chips from the self-service counter, seemed excessive. The homemade lemon granita, however, was good and worth the €5. Breakfast was below expectations: stringy bread and focaccia. Nothing surprising.
