I booked this last minute and it wasn't my first choice. However I'm glad I stayed here. The hotel was lovely..The staff were very friendly..in particular the restaurant staff. The hotel backs into the beach which was the prettiest beach I've ever been to. The rooms were spacious. The buffet breakfast was stereotypical with plenty of choice. The cocktails were a good price for a hotel. 7 euros. You can go to the gym or fitness classes but you have to pay as it's a private health club... 5 Euros. I also booked in for a massage which was amazing. I'd stay here again. Downside ...the mattress was hard so I found it hard to sleep and the pool was absolutely Baltic. The sea was warmer to swim in.

Excellent hotel, all areas very, very clean. We had a one bedroom apartment which was very spacious. We were only bed & breakfast, which was nice and plenty to choose from. Hotel is very well run with helpful and friendly staff. No one allowed to reserve beds with towels from early in the morning, and it worked really well, getting a sun bed was never an issue. Really close to all amenities. Would return here in a minute.

Great hotel close to beach and very clean pool area and rooms cleaned daily. Pool snack bar , overpriced waited ages and food cold , even when not busy. Sun beds , you need to be up early to get one as by 9.30 all gone . Pool bar staff not overly friendly and looked miserable. The hotel itself is large and impersonal but this may suit you but the rooms were great clean and comfortable

We really enjoyed our stay here. We didn't use the restaurant facilities but walked the short walk each evening to the local restaurants where this is plenty of choice. The irish bar is worth a visit too for karaoke and live music. The hotel is friendly and incredibly clean. We had a side view room which over looked a small market, we weren't sure at first as wasn't very private. However the sun set over this side so meant we could sit on the balcony early evening and catch the last of the sun which was lovely. The beach is absolutely beautiful and only a few minutes walk. We spent most of our time here as it was such a family friendly beach. Its one of the moat beautiful beaches we have visited. The food at the poolside bar was delicious and really friendly service too. We will be returning :)

A good size well equipped apartment in a good position at the end of the resort next to a nice park and beach, a short walk to the usual small shops and restaurants a longer walk or short bus trip to a lovely small town. Best room cleaners anywhere , everything spotless. Mostly very friendly staff who speak excellent English which was much appreciated. Sun beds well spaced out but not enough. Could have some more maybe on part of the empty terrace area but there are lots on the beach for a charge. Could do with something to dry towels on the balcony . This hotel is unfortunately let down by the temperature of the food and not having a microwave . The food was only just warm didn’t find actually hot the whole week, I did raise it with a member of staff and ask if they could microwave something for me but they were not willing to help. Salad and desserts were nice but repetitive when the only choice for a full week. Please please get a microwave such an easy solution to allow customers the choice of heating the food to their liking. Most other hotels I have been in have this option. I loved the area, the staff and the apartment. I would really want to come back and recommend this hotel to others , but unless the food temperature issue is resolved, sadly I will be finding a different hotel.

Lovely short transfer from Faro, to a spotlessly clean and spacious hotel, lovely pool and leisure facilities, lovely food. Short walk into a nice town, with small shops and restaurants. One bedroom apartment is a decent size and perfectly adequate for a family of 4. Fabulous beachfront location and the beach is a real stunner. A few things to be aware of: the rooms on the west side of the hotel overlooking the sea/town have full sun all afternoon and early evening which makes sitting out at these times impossibly hot! Pool/beach towels are €25 to hire for the week each! Vegetarian options at the evening buffet are quite limited.

Lovely hotel, we paid extra for a sea view which was definitely worth it. Hotel, pool and rooms very clean. Amazing location right on the beach with access to the board walk and plenty of great restaurants to choose from. Breakfast was nice, plenty of choice. The pool side bar was really good, great food and not that expensive. We only stayed B &B but we had some brilliant meals on the boardwalk restaurants. The rooms were large, comfy beds and our 12 year old sleep well on the sofa bed. The balconies do need an airer, as there was no where to dry the towels part from over the rails. The sun beds were nicely spaced out, there was no real rush for them, but weekends were busy as a lot of people come for the weekend. The pool was nice, very clean but you weren’t allowed to play with a small ball, but this wasn’t consistent by the pool staff and some people got away with a football! But loads of inflatable beds where allowed. Monte Gordo isn’t for everyone, it isn’t a pretty town. It’s a residential area that isn’t very tourist friendly. But apart from that we had a lovely holiday.

Pros: location! By the sea, close to some locally bars and restaurants. Stunning beach. Two sun beds and an umbrella - €18 per day. Nice and clean swimming pool, well looked after by the staff. Fab cleaning crew. Ladies, you are the best! Cons: not enough sun beds, we had ours claimed during lunch (20 minutes), with our stuff removed by some other holidaymakers , which wasn’t great. Part sea view - our room was overlooking the side road, which was being repaired for 4 days. When fixed, some blokes were building a tent overnight! Very annoying. Food - wouldn’t go full board again, as the food was often tasteless and dry. Also, you couldn’t just sit with your plate once finished, as the staff immediately took the plate away, watching you all the time. This felt rather strange. Can the staff be more relaxed? Overall the stay was OK, and the place has the potential.
