This is a wonderful inn. I would highly recommend it. The staff treated us so well. It is in a beautiful part of the country, with many great attractions nearby. We especially enjoyed our hike at Brandywine Creek State Park, which was just a mile away.

This was a return visit for us. In the past, we had also had private dining events, hosted family get togethers, and put up guests for both personal and professional reasons at the hotel and restaurant. Never again. Our $400 per night room was right by the road with the heavy trucks, ambulances, and train going by. While none of the traffic was the hotel’s fault, I assumed when I saw the price (and compared it to other options on a booking site), that this room would be spectacular, quiet, and amazing. It was none of that. It was a huge waste of money. There was no maid service, the room was dark without sufficient lighting for the evenings, no bell service, and the requests I had made before check-in were not fulfilled. The list of disappoin**ents is much longer but the bottom line is that the Inn will no longer be an option for us in the Greenville area.

We stayed here for an anniversary and it was exactly what was needed to escape! The Inn spreads over a large area with rooms spread over several houses on the property. Our superior room (complete with gas fireplace) was large, clean, and very pleasant. It had a vintage ambience complete with some lovely antique pieces in the room. The weekends was rather rainy so we loved just having brunch locally, getting a fantastic facial at the charming Spa right on the property, and enjoying the peaceful comfort of our room. There is also lots to see and do in the area if you so desire —- Longwood gardens and several DuPont estates to visit. Overall we highly recommend the Inn - the location, charm, and personality of the property!!

Gosh I wanted to love this place. I was always taught if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all. But when good hard earned money is involved, I have too. I was excited to be back to the area I grew up in and visit family. I will start with the good: Its very quaint, the shower was great, love the lotion and bathrobe in the unit! Very cozy. Yet: It should be called the Inn at Not Much Happening - they have a beautiful lodge which for the nightly price, offer a cocktail reception (Friday only) with some light bites and cocktails; on them! The Bad - honestly to not have the ability to have your key card work (don't have near any cell phone or credit cards - wipes it out). No other low or high end hotel has this issue (its very rare); not here. We were locked out, several times; 11am and 8am. Perhaps add more of a living room update w/furniture - and make sure if you have a fireplace -- its working. Hello its December and we wanted to have a working fireplace - but not here! The Ugly: Well the in-room Mixpresso coffee maker is a nice bonus, however, in finding an issue with the way it was dripping into the coffee mug, taking it apart and guess what "A BUG" was clogging the drip. This was after several cups were used. For the money - this place should be top notch, more amenities, friendlier a.m. front desk staff. After a stay I like to think to myself, I'll definitely be back, however, I will not be back to the Inn at Montchanin. Its truly a shame.

I attempted to contact this spa to ask what other amenities the spa may have in addition to services, such as a steam room or sauna. The response I got was basically read the brochure, which I did, and it does not state these things. No response after this. Very disappointed in lack of care in providing with me with a simple response: yes or no. Was looking forward to trying this place

Have stayed here several times since they opened. The Inn has definitely decreased in all ways. Rooms were great and now they are just ok; worn and tired. Light bulbs not replaced. Toilet not working properly. Lock not working properly. The one bright spot is Krazy Kat's restaurant. Consistent staff and it shows. Well worth the price. Very good service. The Duponts who are running the Inn no longer seem to want to be the best in town. For years it was the only luxurious inn to stay in. They now have let that level of amenities/service suffer. It would not take much effort and money to get back to the top so hope somebody else might be interested in doing so.

The Inn is very charming and rooms are traditional in decor and very nice. A variety of rooms are available, so talk to the very friendly and accommodating staff to book your room. The location is convenient to Winterthur, Longwood Garden and Brandywine museum. The Spa is very nice. I had a Signature Massage and it was one of the best I have had in a long time.

Very disappointed in the unkept dirty smelly property. The rooms smell and need several maintenance issues. The mattress is so Old you roll To The middle. The window view is cobwebs and debris. The grounds are very unkept and dangerous to walk around due to broken concrete and steps. There is no food and if you have no car you are stranded. The staff is quite unhelpful with regards to advice, help or anything. Not Sure the story as I am sure it was a lovely property at one time but now it is a disappoin**ent. Staying in town at the hotel DuPont or similar would have been a smarter choice.

Oh how I wish I could give the Inn a 5 star! We love Historic Hotels and prefer staying at them. We have stayed here before. The decor of the room, although somewhat in need of care, is beautiful. The setting is unique and beautiful. Location ideal for our trip back to NYC after our visit to NC. The lone desk person was harried checking guests in, as well as helping some of the guests to their rooms. In the morning she was back to the Desk checking people out and grabbing Breakfast bags. We were so pleased to have an upgraded room until we realized our trek (without help) included dozens of stone and garden steps down to the house entrance, a full flight of steps to arrive at the front door and then an inner narrow, curving flight of stairs to the bedroom and bath. We managed with our overnight bags but I was suprised that the desk person did not take into account our ages (76 and 81). The Draper room was a bit musty and I was concerned about an allergy attack which thankfully did not happen. The room and bath were emaculate but the ceiling by the bed was peeling. When I told the front desk in the morning I got (WRONG ANSWER) a lesson in staying at historic hotels. Also I mentioned our ages and being assigned that room. The response was next time call and ask for an ADA room (EXCUSE ME!!!!!) They might reconsider the Grab and Go Breakfast Bag. It is a lovely gesture but there is more plastic and food wrap than food. The muffin is smaller than a ping pong ball. For me a regular sized muffin or scone with butter and jam is a better choice. My feeling is do it right or don't do it at all. It pains me to complain about the Inn but it needs some attention to detail to earn 5 stars.
