Sante Cafe is next to and part of the hotel. We enjoyed it so much we went twice! We had coffee there and later returned for lunch. Both times Mandy served us and was very friendly, helpful and efficient. We had really tasty food. Highly recommend

We had a perfect stay in the rooms of the Mimosa Lodge. The decision to make the fine dining experience with Bernhard was totally right, the food AND the wine was excellent. Thank you BTW for always keping the glasses full :-) The old rooms were still in very good shape and nicely equiped. The veranda towards the street was a nice location for the first dring as well as the garden for the last. Highly recommended!

Nothing special about the room, especially in view of the cost. The main attraction is the balcony, from which the mountains are visible. Also a lovely drive through the mountains to get to the there. Super nice and helpful staff.

My husband and I did a bike trip up to Barrydale for the long weekend in September. Coming home on the Monday, we got caught in the worst storm to hit the Western Cape in the last 100 years! We made it into Montague and made the decision to rather stay over that night, as it was just too dangerous to continue on the bike. We were lucky enough to find accommodation at the Mimosa Lodge. Our entire experience there, from my initial call, to the warm personal welcome we got on arrival (despite leaving a pool of water behind in reception because we were so wet!), to the hospitality shown in the restaurant that evening and again the next morning at breakfast was amazing. The employees were working under extremely difficult conditions. It was the end of a long weekend, so people were on their way home, but because of the storm, there were so many people who ended up stranded, literally sleeping in their cars because all the churches and school halls were full. I watched the staff show compassion and kindness to so many people who came in begging to be allowed to get something to eat for their families, as most of the places in town were closed. Their staff did an outstanding job in trying to accommodate everyone as best as they could and ensure we all had a good evening. In fact, their receptionist wasn't able to get home, so they put her up in a room for the night and, in return, she worked another late shift helping out her colleagues, which shows you the kind of dedication their staff have to making your stay the best one it can possibly be. Our steaks were divine and the service was too. Our room had a carafe of complimentary sherry and fruit waiting to warm us up, the bed was big enough for a family and the views are beautiful. The next morning I was greeted with a huge smile and a hug from the very same Manager who had been on duty the night before and he went out of his way to keep everyone updated as to when roads out of Montague were being re-opened and the safest way to travel back to Cape Town. What could have been an extremely unpleasant situation turned out to be absolutely wonderful, mostly because of the staff - they truly represent the warmth and hospitality of the South African people. I would love to go back there again!

Montagu is an olde worlde oasis in the cape, and mimosa lodge sits central to Montagu. The site occupies a sizeable plot of many different lodges, we were upgraded to the bridal suite on two floors, with the bedroom on a mezzanine. Very extensive and secure with excellent dining facilities, can honestly and wholeheartedly recommend this hotel/lodge to others.

We stayed a couple of nights here and the place does live up to it’s heritage marketing. The only thing is, it makes it a bit noisy. We stayed in the rooms over the road from the main hotel and the floors are wooden floor boards, the walls are plaster and the doors to the rooms are a loose fit in the frames which makes for a lot of echo around the place when people chat in the lobby. The rooms themselves are OK , clean and a very comfortable bed. Bathrooms are clean and large. We found the food there OK but nothing special, it was the only place in our 18 days in South Africa where I didn’t bother with a cooked breakfast on our second day. Maybe it’s a different chef on a Sunday evening and at breakfast because lots of people have said how good the food is. The first night we ate at Route 62 opposite the hotel and enjoyed ourselves there, local beer and reasonable food. Staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful.

We arrived after a 5 hour trek from Cape Town, landing and not knowing about the mammoth storm and flooding that had hit the region. But after a grand detour, Mimosa became a welcome and peaceful place of relief and serendipity. Our upgrade to a two bedroom suite was bliss, fantastic large open plan room, terracing, many facilities, a real place to relax. Enjoyed two breakfasts and one delicious dinner, the hospitality was excellent, friendly, hard working staff and it was pleasure to stay here.

We were firstly impressed with the swift repsonses with the booking process. Our stay was great and better than we expected. The staff was welcoming, friendly and accomodating. Special arrangements were even made regarding breakfast because of our early departure time. Our apartment was very clean and spacious with a beautiful garden. Food was delicious with a wide variety to choose from the breakfast buffet. There is however room for improvement on general information given. There were no visible contact details for the front desk or emergency services. Instructions on the use of appliances were lacking and no information regarding load-shedding measures were given.
