A great place for a relaxing holiday. Spacious rooms, Very nice pool in the meadow, feeling of spaciousness, freedom, along with excellent service. Nice smell of herbs in the rooms and public areas. Very pleasant shop with perfect souvenir. Good workshops.

Magical in every way. The hotel, estate, food and drink, and THE STAFF! I’ve never felt more welcomed and have made more connections with the staff like here. We did bee keeping, star gazing, walking tour tour and the jeep tour. All of the food and bev was outstanding. The staff is otherworldly. So kind and such beautiful souls. Thank you to Filipa, Fabio, Martin, Stefan, João (the legend bartender), Pedo & Caterina and everyone else we interacted with. You are incredible. In João’s words, never change! :-) We miss you already but will see you again soon. Thank you!

To celebrate a 70th birthday celebration, we decided to visit the Algarve in Portugal and tour Andalusia in Spain. We drove from Lisbon to Monsaraz to stay 3 nights at Sao Lourenco Do Barrocal but we could have stayed longer. There is SO MUCH to see and do here, or you can just relax and do nothing at all but soak up the peaceful beauty. We visited the "mini-stonehenge" or almendres cromlechs near Evora and then spent the evening star-gazing at Sao Lourenco with a genuine expert (we loved seeing Saturn's rings). We were impressed with the olive oil tasting that included a tour of the property (so meaningful and memorable). All of our meals exceeded our expectations and the hospitality was truly amazing! We loved our room overlooking the castle at Monsaraz and enjoyed it even more after driving over to explore all of the streets and stunning views. We also enjoyed a Michelin-star dinner next door at a neighboring property (this was all arranged for us by the concierge at Sao Lourenco do Barrocal). This is one of the very few places in the world that we want to return and extend our stay, knowing that we will be welcomed and immersed in true culture of the people and land of Alentejo, Portugal. Highest Recommendation !!!!

An incredible experience overall. Sao Lourenço do Barrocal provides a fabulous dive into Portugals culture with excellent accommodations, food, and staff. The hotel is wonderfully unique with a great history. It provides 5 star lodging in a country setting. The staff was tremendous accommodating our every need. I will certainly be back.

an absolutely beautiful place and a great experience - but magnificently overpriced. there are other competitors in the region which have equally beautiful properties and are half priced - Sao Lourenco is GORGEOUS - but they dont have enough value to justify what they are charging - dear fellow travellers: do your home work and due diligence and you will get equal value for almost half the price.

We had a 1 night stay in early December (and immediately wished we could have booked for more time). This place is spectacular and a beautiful oasis in Monsaraz. Everything from the rooms, to dinner and breakfast, to the beautiful grounds exceed our expectations. The staff was super friendly, accommodating and seemed to like working there. Every detail was looked after. My wife went to the spa and said it was excellent, and I mountain biked (free bikes) around their grounds and it was so quiet and serene. Dinner in their small restaurant was greater as was the breakfast. I highly recommend a visit if you can, even in the winter months as we did, as the quiet and peacefulness was great. Thanks to all the staff for making our short stay so great!

a beautify surrounding and great facilities. attention to details from the reservation to check out processes. breakfast is to die for. home made croissants was the best. best place to relax. Only noise I heard was bird singing and cow bells ringing. one of the best hotels we stayed

What an incredibly magical property. I had seen pictures online, but they didn't do it justice. The grounds are fairytale like and so peaceful. We only stayed for two nights, but I will dream of returning. The rooms are spacious. They are quaint while still being luxurious.
