A simply beautiful hotel! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. The hotel is located in the corner of the wonderful village of Monpazier and is without doubt the best hotel in the area. It is exceptionally well care for and the attention to detail is incredible. After 10 days driving around Europe it was a pleasure to lie by the pool or sit on the terrace in the sunshine before walking into the village for a drink or a bite to eat. The room was lovely with views overlooking the rolling hills behind the hotel. The hotel also has a restaurant attached (which was incredible and deserves a review of its own) and a bistro on the other side of the village. If you are coming to the area I cannot recommend this place enough. We are already planning a return trip later this year.

Lovely dinner at the Chateau Edward 1er. We had the full Périgord taste - foie gras and duck magret to die for, as well as the pork. And for dessert chocolate dome. Service was attentive and never too much. Thank you to the team and the manager of the hotel for their hospitality.

Just returned from a few days at the fabulous Chateau Hotel Edward 1er, Monpazier. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms, lounges and restaurant are gorgeous, so well designed and looked after by the owners. There is also a lovely outdoor swimming pool. The attention to detail is excellent with lots of little touches to make your stay really special. Isabelle is fantastic, always on the go making sure everyone is happy and has everything they need. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times and the food was amazing and the service was first class. We can’t fault anything about the hotel and definitely recommend staying here. Monpazier is a beautiful village and the hotel is a 2-minute stroll from the main village square. A big thank you to Isabelle and her team for making our stay so enjoyable.

I booked the Edward 1er for a group of travelers who were over there to visit us in France. Everyone was thrilled with their time at the hotel! From the charming and comfortable rooms, to the delicious food and impeccable service it was a dream come true for all our guests. The personal service went way above anything I have seen, and we travel a lot. The staff all knew our guests and spoke to them by name at the end of the week, making sure they were comfortable and even being pro active about bringing a heavy bag down as we were checking out. A truly unforgettable experience ! Thank you to all!

Four of us visited for a couple of nights to celebrate my 60th Birthday. I had visited before under a different management and the hotel was still fabulous, if not better. Our rooms were spotlessly clean, traditional, with air con along with tea/coffee making facilities, good towels and toiletries. The pool area had lovely loungers along with canopied sunbeds and a bar service which was very much needed as it was extremely hot! Breakfast was superb, with plenty of choice of cheese, ham, yoghurts, pastries, eggs and the coffee was excellent. It would have been nice to have seen more fresh fruit such as strawberries/raspberries etc but that didn't detract from what was on offer. We ate in Restaurant Eleanor for our last evening. The food, setting and service was top notch - couldn't fault anything and I was serenaded by the hotel staff singing Happy Birthday which was such a nice surprise! In all, a really lovely couple of days in a stunning hotel in magical Monpazier. I can't wait to return next year!

We had such a wonderful time here. It’s a beautiful chateaux. Quite unexpected as it’s on the edge of the gorgeous Monpazier and not in the middle of nowhere like you imagine these mini castles are. It has a gorgeous pool, lovely bedrooms, relaxing lounges and a really really good restaurant. But it’s the people who make it so special. Isabelle is amazing. The most warm, welcoming and kind host. We also have to say a big thank you to Senghong. He always made us feel like we were the only guests at dinner. Every single person who works there should be so proud and we thank you so much for an incredible holiday .

As last year, we had a superb stay at the hotel Edward 1er! The chateau-hotel is authentic, charming, with very comfortable and stylish rooms. From our room we had a beautiful view over the Dordogne hills. The Eleanore restaurant treated us to delicious dinners in a relaxing setting, served by always friendly personel, as part of our half board arrangement. The owners, Isabelle and Michel, Thibaut and the staff always add a personal touch, making us feel welcome.
