The hotel is built on a hilltop with great views towards the west, but the bedrooms face east! A sunset viewed from one’s private terrace would be great, instead one has a sunrise so penetrating that the hotel provides eyemasks to visitors! The rooms’ private terraces face east onto a sort of wasteland backed by trees. Visitors to the hotel and workers use this wasteland as a short cut to the restaurant and swimming pool, so the bedroom’s « private » terrace is not private at all. Had the bedrooms faced west, they would have been on top of a ridge, so there would have been no people walking past. The en suite bathroom has just one window which opens onto the general reception area, which rather surprises the guest when he/she first opens it! The bathroom door is frosted glass. Light from the reception area shines through the above mentioned window, reflecting on the glass door and illuminating the bedroom until midnight. Reception area is an echo chamber and is right next to the restaurant, which has permanent loud music. In the afternoon this was emotional, stentorian male Spanish singers expressing passionate, unrequited love, so a siesta was impossible .Noise from the restaurant penetrated the bedroom till late at night. The cheaper breakfast was quite good value, but only two small slices of toast were supplied, totally inadequate for the ham and jam on the plate. Unless you had a lot of time to spare, there was no possibility of asking for more bread, because just one lady had to deal with serving breakfast, cleaning up the bar area and doing customer check out, so once breakfast was served she was not seen again.
