Theophano Art Hotel

When we called to book a room with a sea view and a balcony, the owner was very ironic and sarcastic, saying "we don't need it because we will be in the castle town and there are other things to see" not knowing if we have been to the castle of Monemvasia. We stuck to our original choice and booked with breakfast at €115 per night. He informed us that breakfast is 15€/day. So we sent a deposit for one night with breakfast. A day before our arrival we called the owner to inform her that we will arrive in the evening due to work and the answer we got from her was that we are arriving very late and if we can leave work earlier or take time off. We explained to her that this can't be done and we also said that we don't want breakfast after all. This time he told us that the price of breakfast amounts to 20€ without specifying whether it is per day or both days. We arrived at the accommodation and were greeted by her husband, Mr. Christos. On the day of departure we went to the reception to leave the room key and pay the remaining amount, she asked us cash or card and after we answered card, she got irritated and started to raise her voice giving us a hint why we should pay by card. Not only that...when we asked for clarification about the breakfast price, which had to be removed, she started yelling that we were haggling and insulting her. By no means did we want to haggle, we just wanted to know what the final price of breakfast was, as he told us two different prices over three weeks, without explaining if it was a price per day or two days. Unacceptable behavior. We were swayed by the good reviews we read on booking, however, the overall experience was unacceptable to say the least and definitely a deterrent to staying at this property. Note: the air conditioner did not work and the TV only had the state channels. We didn't mention something like that, of course, because the answer we would get would be a hint that we don't need all this since we are in the castle town....as for the rooms, far below the expectations formed by the photos available on the internet.

Το ξενοδοχείο είναι μια πολυτέλεια για την υπέροχη Μονεμβασιά.Υπέροχα δωμάτια με μοναδική διακόσμηση και αύρα.Απίστευτη φιλοξενεία από την κυρία Θεοφανώ,την κόρη της και τον σύζυγός της.Μας βοήθησαν στην κυριολεξία στα πάντα.Σίγουρα θα ξαναεπισκεφτούμε αυτό το διαμάντι σε αυτή την υπέροχη τοποθεσία.10 με τόνο!!!

Ένα φανταστικό ξενοδοχείο με αυτόνομα πέτρινα σπιτάκια. Καθαρά δωμάτια, ευρύχωρα, διακοσμημένα με παλιά έπιπλα και πίνακες. Το μόνο αρνητικό είναι το ερκοντίσιον, που για να πιάσει θερμοκρασία πρέπει να είναι στις 21 για πολλές ώρες, αλλιώς ιδρώνεις. Η κ. Θεοφανώ και ο άνδρας της ο κ. Χρήστος είναι πολύ εξυπηρετικοί, δεν μας ενόχλησαν ποτέ, και ήταν πάντα εκεί για να τους ρωτήσουμε πληροφορίες για την Μονεμβασιά και τις γύρω περιοχές. Αν κάποιος έχει βαριές βαλίτσες, προτείνω να χρησιμοποιήσετε έναν αχθοφόρο (5€ φιλοδώρημα) γιατί οι ανηφόρες μέχρι το ξενοδοχείο είναι πολλές. Κατ’άλλα, το Theophano Art Hotel είναι ένα υπέροχο, ρομαντικό, οικογενειακό ξενοδοχείο. Σας ευχαριστούμε από καρδιάς.

Très beau séjour dans cette superbe bâtisse conservée de Monemvasia, qui donne sur une très jolie place, une vue sur mer et des escaliers à 100m menant à une baignade agréable et presque privée ! L’hôte des lieux est très accueillante et donne de sympathiques informations sur la ville à l’arrivée. Très bon rapport qualité/prix. Nous recommandons sans hésiter !
