Location is great! Right next to beach and Moonshine bar. 5 minute walk on the nächste and your at Maasai bar. Downside Music goes on all night and unable to sleep. Mosquitoes are around and the net didn’t help. Bed was also rock hard. For one night drinking there it’s ok but be cautious of the mosquitoes at night, I got bitten 4 times :(

The room on the first floor of the pool room was very humid, the bathroom facilities were old, and the shower head was rusty. The swimming pool was dirty and there was a lot of crow droppings on the lounge chairs. There are only two bottles of mineral water per day, and I asked the front desk and they didn't give me much. Not recommended!

A hotel with such great potential given its beautiful (and central) location. But the notion of customer service is lost on most staff, particularly the GM. Food is mediocre and bathrooms are terribly grubby. Fortunately it was only a one night stay.

The staff and facilities are as advertised. My only disappointment was the food. I got a really bad stomach ache after eating their chicken mushroom pizza, and the dinner and lunch was very average, not much variety. Otherwise it was really close to the beach, had a very nice pool and the rooms had AC so that was nice.

I first visited this prestigious hotel in 2003, and I was immediately impressed by the warm hospitality. One of the receptionists welcomed me with a cocktail as I waited for more information. Later, I enjoyed a refreshing soft drink at one of the hotel’s restaurants while watching the lively scene around the pool. The highlight of my visit was the barbecue, which had a delightful aroma and tasted absolutely delicious. Afterward, I took a leisurely stroll through the well-maintained garden, admiring the care put into its upkeep by the gardener. The hotel staff were efficient, friendly, and made my experience truly enjoyable. This week, in celebration of Customer Service Week, I was treated to complimentary cocktails and snacks. I even had the privilege of being introduced to the entire hotel staff and management, which was a lovely touch. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Mombasa. The exceptional service and attention to detail make it a place worth returning to.

1. The place is horrible right from the check in. I regretted on day 1. We arrived from the airport at 9am in the morning with my 2 year old son. We found them setting down breakfast. We were so hungry and requested if we could join in. It was denied since it was time to close. We asked if we could buy al carte from the Tanga bar, the waiter casually responded to us to wait till 12noon since the Chef was not open yet. We requested for a small meal then for the child, we were told its against policy but luckily the customer care personnel called Isabela (he only +ve encounter) intervened and the boy was fed something. 2. The lady who was doing housekeeping in room 211 on dates 3-6th oct, kept coming to wake us up at 9am and requesting to take away the bedsheets that early even before we go for breakfast. I found it disturbing and had to keep requesting her to give us more time and come back when we are out for breakfast. Upon check out, we tipped her 200bob because frankly we were not happy at all with the service and then we heard her behind our back talking dismally to her colleague about the value of money she had been given. 3. The staff at the eating area are quite unfriendly and talk down casually to guests. One waiter, he always served the fish delicacy during lunch and dinner, was even hitting at me. I asked him 'ninyunyuzie mchuzi' and he responded in a weird tone, "naeza kunyunyuzie kitu kingine pia". Very disgusting. - They have an oversupply of Trainee/Intern waiters who keep taking away your plate before you even finish. You look away one second, the plate has already been cleared and you weren't done eating. 4. The staff at the swimming pool also complain how they are understaffed and how they don't enjoy their work with minimal pay. This translates in the quality of service given to your guests. 5. Let's not even go to the state of the rooms, very run down. The glasses for drinking water were washed right before my eyes in the bathroom sink (which has gunk build up btw) with the surface cleaning detergent and put back on the console table. I never used a glass again. 6. There're no child friendly meals. They keep recycling meals that didn't finish during breakfast, are served for lunch. Therefore there's no variety, you'll keep finding the same roast potatoes for breakfast/lunch/dinner. 7. Rita and Isabella were the only helpful and generally kind personnel in that hotel. Th management should consider training the staff or do an overhaul because there wasn't much, if any hospitality in that hotel.

Went in September 2024. The reception was good with no issues. The only problem was dinner. There were no varieties of food as the choice was so limited to the available. The staff never looked welcoming though can't report any. The rooms were clean but the bathroom was a bit worn out but can be rectified. Had to just have one night sleep and leave coz a lot were missing and didn't want issues. The hotel is good but just need little adjustments to regain its past glory where the reef hotel was the place to be.
