A pleasant Hotel centrally located in the town . The rooms have all necessary amenities and clean. The beds could do with plumper pillows though. Breakfast is payable separately and was filling and freshly cooked to order.
The bar prices were very reasonable

Stayed close by with family and they recommended here to eat. Partner had the chicken & leek pie which was absolutely massive! But the reason I’m writing the review is for the creamy Cajun chicken with mashed potato’s! Oh My Gosh it was amazing! So much so we asked the lad serving us if we could buy a tub of the gravy haha! Honestly the flavour was brilliant! The decor downstairs was lovely but it didn’t follow upstairs but please don’t be put off by that because the food was lovely and the staff even more so. Will definitely be back again!

The Famous Star Hotel is a good place for a meal, having a huge range of meals in the £13-17 range, and I enjoyed my meal of macaroni cheese, chips and a salad for £13.29. Also a pint of Belhaven, from one of Scotland's best breweries was quite reasonable at £4.20. No negatives about this hotel restaurant: staff were friendly, the place was spotless and I didn't have to wait too long. Also dogs are welcome in the bar.

We stayed at this legendary hotel for a night. All was fine. It is located in the centre of the lovely little town of Moffatt and everything is within walking distance We didn't eat here but did have a couple of drinks in the bar The bed was comfortable and although the bathroom was very small the power shower was excellent We hope to return next year

Booked a table for dinner, hubby had haggis neeps and tatties in a whisky sauce the portion was huge and he said it was delicious, I had the ham salad with baked potato and again enjoyed it Diet cokes were 2.50 a pint which was good value lovely friendly staff will return when back in Moffat

Great restaurant for stop-off on way north/south. Have used the Star on/off(COVID) for ten years or so. On treks to Aberdeen and vice versa. Always great, good-value food and friendly staff. Highly recommended, any season, any weather. Parking can be found on the mIn street, just be patient, a space will appear.

Used this hotel as a stop off en route to Grantown on Spey, it’s about the halfway point for my journey. Very friendly staff, very clean room, breakfast was not for me as it was too greasy, but that might have been just me. I would stay again but not for breakfast. Indian restaurant a couple of doors away was good, but the menu in hotel did look very nice, I just fancied a curry after a few beers.

My husband and I had a fantastic three nights at this lovely hotel. The food was excellent, hospitality second to none, and we were impressed with the cleanliness and the friendly staff. We will definitely be paying a return visit.

Waited 45 minutes at lunchtime. No food service due to a staff meeting! Had to leave. Thought only the NHS had meetings like this and ignored customers! Friendly barman though. Frustratingly nice looking menu.
