I came to Modena specifically to eat at Osteria. The hotel is in a good location, and the restaurant is downstairs. The overall layout and decoration are very retro. But it is not as old as the photos. The cleanliness is also good. The heating is sufficient. The front desk also gave free breakfast.

We spent three nights here in a Superior Room, I believe it was Architecture. The room was directly off the reception area, but it was quiet. We never heard any activity in the evening or early mornings. The beautifully decorated room was open, bright, and airy. The bed was comfortable, with high quality linens. The bath was also spacious with large, fluffy towels and a large shower with lots of hot water. A small issue was lighting over the mirror and sink which could have been a bit better. The property is small, at just five rooms. It occupies most of one floor in a late 19th Century Palazzo. The rooms were meticulously restored retaining the original inlaid floors, many of the doors, the painted ceilings; and most impressive, the beautifully hand painted walls. Entry is through a courtyard, and there is an elevator. The location is ideal. It is easy to get to and from the property by car. Parking is on the street but there were always spaces available. We had a pass to display on our dash, so we did not have feed the parking meter. Walking from the hotel to the center of Modena took only a few minutes. We really appreciated the common area and the amenities it provided. In the morning it served as the breakfast room. The rest of the day it served as a lounge offering snacks and beverages. In the evening, we stopped for a small glass of liquor before going to bed. Benedetta, the owner, was a pleasure to meet. She offered suggestions, arranged a balsamic vinegar tour for us at the last minute, and in general, made us feel like guests in her home.

My husband and I booked two rooms here with a friend for one night when we were going to Osteria Francescana in May 2024. I loved this B&B so much that I wish we had stayed another night. If we ever go back to Modena, this is where we will stay. The room: The room was absolutely beautiful and very unique with high ceilings, a beautiful Murano glass chandelier, and a well appointed bathroom. The view looked out over a beautiful courtyard that was lit up with lovely lights in the evening. The air conditioning was excellent. The service: The service was excellent. We got in later than expected due to heavy rains and trouble getting a taxi, but Benedetta stayed 30 minutes late to wait for us so she could make sure to tell us about the area, hotel, and let us grab some fruit and pastries since we were leaving early the next morning. She was extremely kind and friendly - one of the nicest people we met during our month in Italy. The location: We picked this hotel because of its proximity to Osteria Francescana (it’s literally across the street, like a one minute walk), but it’s also walking distance to several shops and restaurants - we wish we had stayed longer to explore. I can’t recommend this place enough - it was amazing and very affordable (less than 200 euro per night for our room, and 130 euro per night for our friend’s room) especially compared to the other hotels we stayed at in Italy.

The location was great and the owner took a lot of care to make sure the property was well taken care of. She also anticipated every need a traveler would want which was very impressive. The little things like good water pressure, tile that wasn't chipped or cracked, soft fluffy towels, in room coffee machine, enough counter space in the bathroom, and comfy bed, etc. and of course the European style breakfast which was tasty. And a super nice and friendly owner.

A very nice stay! The proprietor, Bendetta, is clearly dedicated to providing her guests with excellent service, and a very pleasant, very clean accommodation. She also steps in as concierge and helped us to arrange a few tours and helped with dinner reservations. The place certainly has a lot of character. Be advised that there is an elevator once you get inside if you stay to the left instead of going up the stairs. Although the information states that there is not a breakfast, there is actually a beautiful breakfast room with an assortment of cakes and pastries, as well as fruit and yogurt that are put out each morning at 9AM. Coffee (Nespresso) too. Location is good for most everything we were interested in seeing in central Modena. Pay close attention to where Bendetta tells you to park… otherwise parking can be a drag.

We had a lovely stay on Salotto delle Arti! The rooms are beautiful, breakfast is really tasty and Bernadetta is a very gracious host. You are right in the centre of Modena and a 5 minute walk from the main piazza. When we arrived, Bernadetta told us there was a 'feste' happening in the piazza so we went immediately and it was fantastic! Lots of food and drink stalls so we gorged ourselves with all the free tastings, and bought lots of tasty treats to take home. Didn't have a clue it was happening before we got there so thank you Bernadetta! And thank you so much for accommodating us when my husband became ill on our departure day and we couldn't drive to the airport! We had to move rooms as there is only 1 suite and it was booked after us but Bernadetta was so helpful, lovely and caring to us. Grazie mille!

Small, very private and quiet. And in a great location! Just steps from one of the best restaurants in the world( Osteria Francescana). The room was large and spacious. The bathroom was updated very nicely and had plush towels. Bernadetta was a very gracious and attentive host.
