Plaza Hotel

Returning to Kalymnos after many years did not disappoint, yes it’s changed but it still retains its charm. I wasn’t sure what to expect of the Plaza hotel. I booked it initially because of its position and because it had steps into the pool rather than ladders. I read a few reviews that gave me some concerns. In reality it far exceeded expectations. The room was spotless, the bed comfortable, the shower was good. Clean towels and bedding most days.The view from the balcony is awesome. We arrived late at night and were warmly welcomed and very happy to drop the cases in the room and find the bar across the road still open. The staff are lovely so friendly and helpful. The receptionist staff were wonderful. The lady who cleaned our room was exceptional. Breakfast was much better than I had expected, more or less the same every day but there are ample choices so you can make it different if you choose. The pool bar staff very friendly and good food at reasonable prices. In summary the Plaza ticked all our boxes so much so that we booked again for 2025.

We spent two weeks here and had a great time. The hotel is clean and tidy (our room was cleaned every day to a high standard) and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. We had a room with a sea view, which I’d recommend as the ones at the back overlook a bar with a loud rock music play list. The pool was a good size with plenty of sunbeds available and a great pool bar which served delicious food in generous portions. There’s a member of the bar team based on the beach and they’ll bring you drinks and food down from the bar which was a great service. There’s no hotel bar apart from the one at the pool which closes at 7pm but it doesn’t really matter as there are loads of bars up and down the street in Masouri. Our room had air con (no extra charge for this) and a fridge. There’s no kettle but if you had to choose fridge or kettle you’d definitely want a fridge so you can have a cool glass of wine on your balcony as you watch the sun set. This is an amazing scene every night and worth making the most of. (There’s a tiny freezer compartment in the fridge so buy some ice cube bags at the shop across the road to make sure you’ve always got ice on hand for your balcony drinks). We’d a great time and would definitely go back.

We had a 11 night stay here and it was fantastic. Great location for relaxing, enjoying local food and visiting Telendos by boat. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was limited but ok. Pool snack bar food was excellent value for money, huge portion size. Gorgeous beach. There is always a bed by the pool or on the beach available anytime of day. Definitely will come back. The most amazing sunsets I’ve ever seen.

Visited here quite a few times to use the pool during our three weeks stay on the island, which is open to the public. Never overcrowded and always sun loungers available, which were nicely padded. Excellent position right on the beach with views towards Telendos. Pool was a good temperature and refreshing after being on the beach all day. A large cold Mythos €5, but plenty of choice of other drinks and various snacks available to order. Drinks were served in plastic cups if you want to take back to your sun lounger instead of the bar seating area. Visited Jun/Jul 2024

The rooms are spacious with a balcony over looking the bay and the Telendos island. (Dont miss a trip across to the island by boat.) Clean room with ac and safety box in the room. Breakfast is good but some cold items that could do with some warming up. Staff is polite and helpful. A fairly large pool is within the hotel. restaurants are within walking distance. We stayed five nights and would visit again. Take the higher floors with a sea view.

Room was a mountain view room, which was great as it meant that if we wanted we could sit on it in the afternoon. You couldn’t do that with a sea view room,sun too hot. Breakfast basic. Room clean, bathroom good size. Have to use lift to get to pool, then stairs, then more stairs to beach. Great beds on beach, 10Euros for the day,but lots of room around the beds to either follow the shade or sun. Free beds further along the beach but very little space to move. You will have to make a purchase from the beach bar to get free beds. Several beach eateries. Great tavernas and bars just outside the hotel.
