Central Beach Inn

Mirissa|0.18km from Mirissa Beach
Central Beach Inn has a bunch of different room types at different price points. We stayed in the deluxe balcony with AC. Overall the room was ok and a decent size. My friend had issues with the bathroom door since it is very short and he is 6’1” (he hit his head several times). The room has a sort of colonial romantic feel with dark wood furniture and a four-poster bed with white mosquito netting. Standard amenities – WiFi, safe, small fridge, overhead fan, mini bar (electric kettle and coffee/tea), and toiletries. The steps to the balcony were very steep with a higher than normal rise and were shared with one other unit. A basin with water was on the landing for the stairs so that you could wash off sand from your feet. A gate was at base of the stairs. Breakfast was not included, and we did not eat at the restaurant. We did not have the room serviced while there by choice, but I think you have to ask if you want it cleaned. Comparison time: We stayed at two places in Mirissa Beach – Central Beach and Dream Palace. The two hotels are back-to-back with Central taking the beachfront and Dream Palace taking the street front. They both have their pros and cons. The rooms were significantly nicer and cleaner at Dream Palace, but I liked mattress better at Central as it was a little less hard. Both places had the same room amenities. You hear the music from the beach nightclubs at Central whereas you get the early morning beeping and bread-tuk tuk music from the street at Dream Palace (although the rear rooms are much quieter). Central is beach front and Dream Palace means that you walk through another hotel, for which the gates may all be locked after 1:00 am (be warned!). You will have to climb stairs at Dream Palace, but you can get a ground level room at Central. The service was significantly better and much more friendly at Dream Palace (family run) compared to the more business feel of Central. Central has a full restaurant and Dream Palace does not. The WiFi was somewhat stronger at Central and allowed for internet phone calls. Dream Palace is more budget friendly since it is not beachfront. As for Mirissa Beach itself, the beach is beautiful! The waves are very large and consistently frequent which means they may not be good for children or those who do not like to get batted around by waves. However, there is an area at the end of the beach by Parrot Rock with very gentle small waves that is good for kids. The beach is very busy all of the time and people come here for the nightlife. At least one restaurant a night turns into a club with a dj (until 3 or 4 am). At one end of the beach, they will put out these lit up frames that kind of look like giant eggbeaters out front of the bar that will be the club that night. They also have live music earlier in the evening at some of the other places. Mirissa Beach is a good central location on the south shore to make quick trips to Weligama (surfing) and Matara (city), and longer trips to Unawatuna

Guys, arriving at this hotel was just great for us! Not enough words to convey all our emotions from the hotel. If ever again (or more than once) I will return to Sri Lanka, it will definitely be the Wavelengh Hotel! The owner of the hotel named Nishan is a big-letter man. Very soulful, kind, infinitely honest. He helped us always in everything: searching for cheap tours, shops, cheap rental of tuck-tucks and so on ... He took us to the fish market, helped to buy fresh, inexpensive seafood that on the evenings we personally prepared - it was incredibly delicious. Every evening they spent together a shower evening for conversations and a glass of Roma. Every morning Nishan personally cooks incredible breakfasts for all the guests of the hotel, never would have thought that in 2 weeks I would not be tired of eating fried eggs in the morning (in different forms), but every morning it was wonderfully delicious! The hotel staff is as operational as possible in all matters, kind, responsive, never leaves unnoticed. The rooms are always clean, fresh, comfortable. At first request - staff cleans up, changes towels, bed linen (although every day). My friend's wife celebrated her birthday at the hotel. The hotel staff prepared an incredible table with fruit and wine in the afternoon, and in the evening decorated the chain with flowers, balls and very warmly congratulated the birthday party for the most delicious personally prepared dinner. For his own, sufficiently saturated, for travel life, I will repeat, Never met such a great reception. Nishan, if you are reading my review now, know - you are one of the best people in my life! Thank you and your whole team for everything! We will definitely come back! As for the location of the hotel, it is also very convenient in terms of pedestrian access to the ocean, a lot of cafes, supermarket with products, alco market, spa salon. The hotel is very comfortable, the comfort betrays him a small number of rooms (only 12), green on the territory, a fairly spacious pool with a small jacuzzi area.

Unbelievably good, the room is large and clean. There is a welcome drink at check-in, it is papaya milk, oh, really good. And the surprise is that going out is the beach. The distant friends who lived have gone a lot of ways to go swimming at the beach. And we are out, it's too convenient, too worth it. Great room, big bed, large balcony, big beach. Really lucky, I chose the Holiday Inn Mirissa. I don't care, I really feel that the hotel is great, so I recommend it to everyone. And breakfast is not bad, I like it very much.

We stayed in DEC 2021 and originally booked via booking.com for 2 nights, the hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the room was large and airy with no issues. The breakfast was plentiful with lots of variety, definitely set us up for the day! We enjoyed the stay so much that we extended to 4 nights! We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, the proximity to the beach is great and the staff couldn't do anything more for us! (I wouldn't recognize the place from the previous review in April 2021) Sri Lanka has been hit hard by the pandemic and needs more tourists to visit- this was one of our favourite stays in Sri Lanka 😊

Spent 5 nights chilling at this wonderful spot after 2 weeks of culture and site seeing. Not sure how “boutique “ hotel is defined but not what I was expecting, however, the rooms are fantastic and the location, right on the beach with incredible views are worth it. We didn’t have dinner there as too many lively choices on the beach, breakfast was excellent. We used the hotel taxi service for a day trip to Galle which was very good, used them again when we left to Negombo and I think this time it was subcontracted out and the car and driver left much to be desired, good job I had google maps or driver would never have found the hotel. That aside, another wonderful experience of the country and the people.

Mirissa does not have that many mid range or upmarket hotels like most beach towns. A lot of it is geared towards the backpacker crowd with hostels and guest houses located more towards the ends of the beach. This hotel was in a perfect location just off the main road on a side street. It was two minutes from the beach (slight beach view depending on your room). There are restaurants, shops and an ATM on your doorstep. You can't fault location. It's super clean and really well kept. They look after the property. There was a lot of steps to get to the room but the staff helped us carry the luggage. It's owned by a family. The room was very clean, big and spacious with a massive bed. There is air conditioning and a fan, fridge, two free bottles of water and fast wifi. The latter surprised me as wifi is really bad in Sri Lanka so make the most of it! They strangely only left one towel but were happy to give another one when I asked for it. The remote for the air conditioning did not work but as we were only there for one night, it was fine. The room was freezing and we could not alter the air conditioning so I climbed on the table in the middle of the night to switch it off from the mains and then we used the fan! The owner was a funny character. He basically gave us the key asked no questions and that was it. It was quite good in a way as sometimes it's draining to have to go through the whole form filling each time. He should have maybe volunteered a bit of information about the hotel and facilities. He was nice though and did make me laugh. The family were sweet but appeared almost shy if you spoke or interacted with them. Very hospitable though. You can go in and out freely as the entrance to the rooms is separate from the reception. I was conscious that sometimes these smaller hotels don't have twenty four hour reception or building access but this was fine. To be honest, it ticked the boxes for me in that it had a good location, was clean, hot shower and friendly staff. Looking at some of the other hotel options around Mirissa this was a good bet!
