I didn’t stay at the hotel, I was with a friend visiting the stunning National Trust Holnicote Estate (yes, beavers and all!) and this is where the team kindly took us for supper the evening we arrived… our expectation was local pub, the reality, probably the best food I’ve ever had in such a remote location in the UK. The vibe is eclectic with plenty of charm, the staff/owners are characters. And they take their food very seriously, you are expected to arrive on time and then service begins (set menu for all) and forget trying to announce you’re vegetarian upon arrival, if they didn't know before hand then no chance of a change… this made me curious and slightly wary until the first dish came out and i could see what love and care was evidently poured into the food, each mouthful was a sensation. As if i needed a reminder as to their care for their craft I, seriously annoyingly, had to take an international call in the middle of supper, I had hoped it would be quick but a full half hour later I returned to the table where upon they were presenting the puddings - could i possibly have my main course first please… the man’s face was a picture… no way, it was ruined, desecrated and couldn't possibly be served in it’s now degenerated state. I honoured his depth of feeling, climbed back into my box and awaited my pudding… i was bereft and my companions left out no delicious detail of the sublime main course i was never to experience. I don’t recommend you follow suit, clear your diary, arrive not on time but early, really early - walk along the water front (the situation is heavenly), enjoy a drink or two at the bar and then settle in for a little piece of true Somerset magic with Italian flair

What a special couple of days The place is one not to be missed. Rooms are amazing and the location is fantastic. Food not to be missed one of the best tasting menus I have ever had. We were looked after along with our dogs from the moment we arrived. Can’t recommend it any higher so amazing

This was one of the best set menus/tasting menus I have had. It was inventive, beautiful to look at and each course tastes absolutely delicious. The chef and the manager were both extremely professional and friendly and we really enjoyed talking with them after our meal. I’m not sure how long they will be there so if you can I would take the opportunity to experience this dining experience.

Absolutely loved it - coffee served on arrival by the lovely Cindy in the lounge and shown a snack cupboard to just help yourself. Then shown to a lovely room with great views over the thatched rooftops out to sea, comfy bed, great bathroom with beautiful toiletries. Dinner served at 7.30pm for guests, just wow, so creative and beautifully presented, same with breakfast the next day. Well worth a visit, a hidden gem.

I booked an evening meal for my wife and I to celebrate her 40th birthday. I can honestly say it was the most incredible dining experience either of us have ever experienced! The food was beyond delicious and each dish was a master piece! The service was impeccable and we met some lovely guests staying at the hotel. We cannot wait to revisit in the future. Thank you :)

Friendly, relaxed and value for money experience in a stunning setting. The hospitality we received was perfect, making us feel welcome and homely from start to finish. The staff went above and beyond to cater for us and showed genuine care during our stay. The location itself is beautiful and the hotel has a contemporary feel about it with immaculate decor. The food was divine and obviously shows the thought and attention used to make it. This goes for every meal we had. It is locally sourced and super fresh. Could not recommend this enough and wish we could give it more stars! Looking forward to coming back when we get chance. Simply amazing!!
