This place feels in between a hotel and a ryokan. We requested for a pick up from a ski hill using Whatsapp and it was seamless. Our room was spacious and comfortable.

Impeccable service, very Japanese-style rooms. I heard it is a century-old hotel. There are not many rooms, so there are not many people taking a hot spring bath, which is a good experience. There is an open-air bath, you can watch the snow and take a hot spring bath, which is very flavorful. The food is very good, dinner is Japanese, and breakfast is a buffet. The buffet has Western bread and coffee, and natto rice with miso soup. My snow boots disappeared when I came back without putting them in the shoe cabinet. All the hotel staff helped me find them, and the uncle who manages the shoe rental kept apologizing. He said that if I can't find them, he will prepare a pair of snow boots for me.

Our room was on the second floor of the annex, and some of the rooms had stairs, so it was difficult to carry the pet cart.
Even with the door closed, bugs would get in somehow. The open-air bath smelled of gasoline, probably from the inn, and was uncomfortable at night.
As it was the season for new rice, we ordered extra breakfast, which was absolutely delicious. Many guests brought their pets, and the inn and its guests were all very pet-friendly.

We stayed at this beautiful traditional Japanese onsen for a ski holiday. The staff were very thoughtful, patient and attentive. Our rooms were quite roomy and comfortable. We were able to rent our skis directly from the hotel making it extremely convenient for us. We also took advantage of the communal showers (beautiful facilities) and the hot spring soaks. The cherry on top was the traditional dinner we participated in which was a variety of local specialty foods, and everything was so delicious and carefully prepared as well as visibly appealing. We were extremely comfortable here and would recommend this to anyone looking to stay in this small town.
