The Yamanami highway runs to Beppu area, and it turns to the left side of Kurokawa Onsen from the intersection with national route 442 where the rest house of Seno is located. Since several years ago, national route 442 has changed to a new road, and it is easy to run with a margin of road width. This inn is ”Ryokan Wakaba”. There seems to be a lot of guests in GoTo travel, and there is no space to stop in the free parking lot, so the key is left at the front desk. The night meal is room meal. When you sit in the seat and look at the drink menu, the drink using ginger seems to be delicious. When Nakai comes, you order ”ginger sweet sake” which is said to be the least alcohol. The dishes are also carried in good procedure. The dishes unique to Kumamoto are delicious, such as frost horse stab and red chicken after Kumamoto miso beef. However, Yakiniku in the room smells on the clothes. Breakfast is usually served in the hall on the first floor, but it is a lunch box in each room to prevent corona virus infection. Rice is cooked with a cherry blossom using shichijo rice, and the side dish is a delicious morning rice called 'rokuhon of kokokugo' and 'miso soup of shichijo rice, tsukitake and Minami Seki fried rice. The inn was friendly and the response was good and the hot spring was pleasant.

You can experience traditional Japanese relaxing time at this accommodation. They have a lot of separated Onsen rooms, and some could be locked by yourself as a private bath room. I recommend you to try some Onsen. You can also eat local dinner with a lot of dishes. The bed room is cover with Tatami which is a Japanese straw mat, and the Tatami is comfortable with your barefoot. Also no bed, you have to sleep on Japanese rug Futon. The facility is enough clean as well. I would like to stay again the accommodation when I will re-visit Kurokawa Onsen village. 静かな温泉街のステキな旅館。1泊だけでしたが、とても満足度の高い時間を過ごす事が出来ました。 この旅館にはたくさんの露天と内湯温泉があり、そのうち宿泊者用の家族風呂が10近くあります。部屋数も多くない旅館なので、ほぼ必ず楽しむ事が出来るでしょう。湯温もちょうどよく、家族風呂をはしごして楽しみました。 食事も素晴らしく、とても美味しい熊本料理を楽しめました。料理の質はかなり高かったと感じました。 仲居さんは研修生と書かれた、若い男性でしたが、対応も説明もしっかりこなしてくれて満足です。 また黒川温泉に来る機会があれば、お世話になりたい、そう思える時間でした。

The corridor design makes living more convenient and reasonable. Sleeping on the Kurokawa River at night may be a bit mind-boggling for those who are sensitive to sound. I chose a one-stay, two-dinner plan, a traditional Japanese kaiseki. The Japanese food was filling but not delicious~ The only regret is that the hot shower in the room recently broke down. I originally chose this hotel because it had a private bathroom in the room. But the controller, Uncle Nakanishi, was particularly interesting. That night, there was insufficient water pressure on the second floor and the water supply was cut off. The emergency call was not delayed with the false enthusiasm of the Japanese. Instead, he hung up the phone in a very rude manner and said ”wait a moment.” , I also took a cold shower and ran out of water halfway, so I solved the customer's problem first. With this episode, I can still sympathize and understand. When I checked in, the other fat uncle was not very enthusiastic, a little cold and stiff. Too many guests and too busy?

Staffs were super friendly and helpful. Free pick-up service from the bus stop. As we arrived before check-in time, the driver dropped us at the main street and showed us where to eat and how to walk back to ryokan. The ryokan kindly offered us early check-in. Luggages were in the room already when we arrived. Front desk staff explained everything clearly. We could only book the private onsen once. Private onsen number one is a bit small, and the water was not hot enough, but the view is pretty with a small garden and rock mountain. I love the large outdoor onsen (for hotel guests only). Water was hot. Beutiful environment and great atmosphere. Changing room was clean and spacious. The smaller outdoor onsen is for public. Room was a bit old and simple, but it came with a cute balcony which I didn't expect. Food was great. Dinner was served in room, and breakfast was served in breakfast room. Overall a great ryokan experience.

We are so happy we booked this hotel for heading to Mt Aso. First, the staff greeting was super warm and welcoming. The hotel is brand new and while our room was a great and functional design, the bed was the most comfortable western-style bed we’ve had in all of Japan! It’s location is super convenient if you arrive by train (it’s across the street) and while they don’t really have dining facilities, there is a fun outdoor market right outside where we grabbed dinner: meat skewers, mustard greens biscuit and a delicious craft beer (there is also ramen and a few other food choices).

Meals and services are as others write. Kurokawa Onsen is ３ degrees. A quiet remote inn in Okukurokawa. There are only 8 rooms in the vast land. Because each room has a bath, I don't meet people in the large open-air bath, and I rarely meet people in the hotel. The room is a calm Japanese-style room. The floor I stayed on was on the 2nd floor, but when I opened a door, I went down the stairs to the 1st floor from here and went to the indoor bath. The bathroom is filled with steam and is a hot spring that flows directly from the source. The service is also substantial. Welcome fruit was prepared in the refrigerator. The food is also vegetables from the home vegetable garden and locally produced Japanese beef. The rice is also delicious with locally produced ”Akigeshiki”. It was a satisfying hotel in everything.

It was a very disappointing stay. After checking in, when I was about to head to my room, a female staff member ran up to me and guided me, saying, ”This is it.” Please get on the elevator,” and ran away. I get on the elevator on that street, but I can't find a room even if I look for it. When I went back to the first floor, I found the same female staff member again. And when it's time for dinner, I try to leave the room, but the door won't lock. Even though the door should be auto-locked, it opens when you push the door. Maybe it's badly built, the key doesn't go in and it doesn't lock. When I called the front desk, a female staff member came immediately, but she said, ”Please wait a moment,” and left without a word for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes had passed, a male staff member finally arrived, but he said, ”We can't move rooms because they are fully booked. We will call a contractor to fix it.” Do I have to?” When I asked, he said, ”Since there was a canceled room, please go to that room.” For dinner, I had the ”Akaushi course”, but there were also extremely few dishes. Red beef is a small amount of beef about 2 x 5 cm thick and 5 mm thick, about 3 small bowls, and a little horse sashimi and sashimi. This is the first time I've had such a small amount of food at a hot spring inn. It may be good for small eaters. Also, the foreign staff brought the chawanmushi, but for some reason it was placed on the table instead of on a plate with a spoon for chawanmushi. As for the private bath, when I went early in the morning, there was a used toothbrush and floss on the edge of the bath. It's gross even if it's not in the corona misfortune. At checkout, not a single word of apology was given. Is it because I changed rooms that the matter has already been resolved? Is it just a makeshift lie that I will tell the staff at the morning meeting? This is my first time staying at this inn. It's unthinkable that a hotel can't be locked, and it's unthinkable to leave it alone for half an hour. There is no feeling of slimy, but the body warms up to the core. Dinner • Breakfast is full of content. Dinner is a course meal. Every dish is really delicious because it makes full use of the characteristics of seasonal ingredients. The salt-grilled salmon is salty and very fat and delicious. There was also a cherry blossom for breakfast, but it is tempura, so it seems that the taste is different from the cherry blossom for dinner and eating another river fish. Even if you use the same ingredients, you can realize that if the cooking method changes, the taste changes like magic. The rice was also very delicious. The grains of rice 々 stand and shine is evidence of delicious rice.

A traditional onsen hotel, recently renovated and facilities modernised. The twin bed room is large - about 50 sq m in size. In addition, there is a balcony overlooking an excellent view. The breakfast and dinner buffet are fine, though not very special. I like the Japanese style dinner better. The hotel is situated inside the mountain. Access is not easy. There are no shops nearby.
