We are a couple from Australia and I only speak a little Japanese. This was a truly AMAZING experience! The staff were so kind and friendly, giving us assistance was no issue for them. The location is stunning, the private onsen was glorious and the dinners and breakfasts were bigger than we could possibly eat (and we love our food). The price point for this experience was so good - fantastic value for money. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a little adventure in the heart of countryside Japan.
If you get the chance to also visit Minamiaso (they will take you there at no extra charge) for the day, grab some e-bikes and have a ride around- take in the beautiful scenery and wonderful food options.

Travelled as a family, they made special arrangements for us to have earlier breakfast at 7.30am as we had to depart the hotel to Takachiho Gorge by 8am. Yukata was of the wrong size for my mum and we had a hard time getting the staff's attention to change the size. Food is average for ryokan omakase, my daughter had a change to feed the duck. We enjoyed the onsen.

A hot spring hotel with a strong human touch. The staff is very kind and proactive in communicating with guests. The hotel environment is very quiet and comfortable, with ducks and lazy cats that can be fed. The room is a bit dilapidated, with no bathroom, bottled water, slippers, etc. Food is ok!
