Beautiful and delicious! The hot springs and our room (in the old part, the 3. Building) was so amazing that we are speeachless! It is more beautiful than on the pictures ! And walking around in the traditional yukata was supercool and stylish! The food is really good and served in a topical Japanese way. The only thing that was not totally perfect was that there was dust and spiderwebs some places (but not the rooms). We love it, we will come back of we have an opportunity again!

Awesome hotel! Although some places look old, they are very clean and tidy, so they are not affected. Dinner is set but it's different every day, some days are amazing. Breakfast was buffet but basically nothing changed. The hot springs are very good, especially the outdoor hot springs. Snow falling on the body under the stars feels special. The hotel staff is the most hardworking I've ever seen, and the same person dials the front desk, the restaurant and so on. There is a young man named Pu who speaks some Chinese in South Korea who is very friendly and tries to meet the various needs of guests. The only thing that was not very satisfactory was the attitude of a typical Japanese male who was rather perfunctory. We wanted to change the dinner time one day and he refused. Later, I asked the young man named Park, he said yes, and then called and confirmed with the restaurant to help us improve our time. All in all a hotel worth visiting again.

I can go to the hot spring whenever I want. Dinner and breakfast are included in the accommodation fee, it can be said that the price is very high. If it is the hot spring in the collective bathroom, it is recommended to go after dinner, because the room is just next to the collective bathroom, so I heard it very clearly. Everyone concentrated on going in the afternoon. Basically, it was a private booking at 9-10pm. But of course there are criticisms and derogations, that is, the sound insulation is a bit inadequate. Of course, the speech in the next room cannot be regarded as the hotel's fault. But overall I am very satisfied with this stay. Highly recommended to go to this small town to experience slow life.

This hot spring resort is a beautiful facility located on large, gorgeous grounds, less than two hours from Tokyo station. The Tanigawa mountain range mid-November offered a wonderful backdrop to our suite of three rooms including our private outdoor bath. We spent two days walking the grounds, enjoying the wonderful cuisine, taking numerous dips in our bath as well as experiencing dips in the the two larger communal baths. The service was impeccable, the refrigerator refilled regularly, and late night snacks delivered to our room both evenings. The facility is large but there are only about 16 suites so it feels very quiet and tranquil. Whether you are visiting Japan for the first time or are a frequent visitor to onsen resorts, you should consider staying at Bettei Senjuan. We think it is special.

There are three baths and all are very good. Towels, basic cosmetics, hair care products, pajamas, coffee machines, colors 々 are all available, so you don't have to bring them. I stayed with my family twice in January 2022, after the New Year and in late January. Both rooms were on the 7th floor. The first time was a corner room, and if you looked down from the veranda, you could see the flow of the Shima River. The second time was not a corner room, but a family of three could relax in a Japanese-style room of 10 and a half tatami mats. Both arrived earlier than the check-in time, but the check-in was smooth, and the explanation from the front desk staff was polite, and it was easy to understand with memos such as meal time and bath time. Thanks to that, I was able to enjoy the open-air bath early. The open-air bath had shampoo conditioner, body soap, and soap. A razor, aftershave lotion, hair tonic, hair liquid, comb, cotton swabs, and tissues are provided at the open-air bath washbasin. It seems that there was also a cleansing for women. There was a place where you can drink the hot springs on the first floor. A paper cup is provided. Two elevators. One was the observation elevator. There were heaters and rubbing alcohol throughout the ryokan. Wifi was available everywhere in the room and inside the hotel, so I didn't have any problems during my stay. It was fast enough. When you return to your room after dinner, the futons are spread out and you can sleep right away. My bed is always my home, so the futon in the Japanese-style room is somewhat fresh. The open-air bath was open to men and women at different times, but it was spacious and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Even after 5:00 in the morning, I went to the open-air bath in the dark and woke up perfectly. Breakfast was also very good. Check-out is at 11:00, so buy souvenirs at the shop before that. If you pay by credit card, it will be smoother if you ask them to charge the room before checking out. When I left the entrance, the staff took out my shoes, everyone greeted me in a loud voice, and I was able to leave comfortably. On the way back, when I took a family photo in front of the entrance, the staff came immediately and took it for me. Shima Onsen wasn't a big tourist spot, but it was a very good place to go to the hot springs with your family.

The mid-sized inn is moderately priced and good value. Nice hot spring onsen with an indoor and outdoor bath. It was snowing and a long dip in the outside bath was a special treat. Dinner and breakfast were served at the dining area in a private room. The dinner was a fabulous kaiseki style course with much of the menu from local vegetables, mushrooms and fresh water fish. There was a small museum just behind the ryokan with modern art and Korean antique porcelain, and an eclectic collection of several other paintings. The museum's owner is from the small mountain village and the owner of the famous 'Tenichi' tempura chain. A enjoyable museum worth the visit while going on a walk. The service was very good and appears the two main managers were husband/wife ensuring you feel welcomed and looked after. As we were getting ready to check out a gentleman from the ryokan was already out in the cold and snow, removing snow from our car windows.
