We went to celebrate my husband's birthday. He asked me to find a hot spring + kaiseki hotel. I had tried a very good hotel when I went skiing in Zao before. This hotel was really a bad experience. It was like a nightmare. I was really upset. I stayed for two nights. I couldn't help but move to Prince Hotel at a high price, but after a discussion, the hotel refused to refund the money. There is no WiFi in the room. I didn't realize it until I got there. It was the first time I stayed in a hotel without WiFi. My data was used up very quickly. My husband and I went skiing and there was no washing machine. . I go to Japan every month and I have never seen a place without a washing machine. You can't take a shower in the room, you have to go to the hot springs. The Master Hot Spring doesn't have shower facilities, only the other two hot springs have them. Forget about all these. Later I found out that there were many stink bugs. I was sick and didn't go skiing. I was alone in the room. Suddenly I stood up and saw two black insects. I was so scared that I immediately asked the staff to catch them. Bug manual in the room. . There should be a lot. . One or two is fine, but when there are so many, I can't sleep at all. Moreover, they are the kind of bed bugs that suck your blood while you sleep. I think no one can stand it. . Imagine having bugs crawling on your body while you sleep. My husband has anxiety disorder, which made his birthday very unhappy. He also had to disinfect thoroughly when he got home. It was really the worst experience, but I have to praise the platform for doing its best to handle it.

This is our second stay in this hotel since 2019. Now the waiters are mostly Southeast Asians, except for the management staff, most of them are foreign waiters. The scenery is still beautiful, but the experience is much worse than before. The dishes are not in place and are messy. It is the worst time I have stayed in a hot spring hotel in more than ten years. What's more exaggerated is that 50,000 yen was missing from our bag during the more than an hour of dinner (the bag was placed in the suitcase and the suitcase was not locked). This is the first time I have encountered this in Japan.

We chose Hoshi Onsen on a whim, but we were impressed by how much larger it was and the atmospheric atmosphere. The staff and Nakai-san were all very nice and we felt very comfortable there. The hot springs were also very pleasant. We went home saying that we want to go back next year.

It is a long-established hot spring inn, but it has been renovated appropriately and is comfortable. It is isolated from the outside world, and I think it is ideal for a couple in their 60s like us to relax and unwind after the fatigue of daily work. Judging from the crowded parking lot on the day we stayed, there must have been quite a few guests, but no one was making noise and we had a very quiet time. The landlady was also elegant and had a lovely smile.

Nice rooms, good country location, excellent kaiseki dinners. Staff were helpful. Great onsen - large mixed bathing area, also fabulous small outdoor hot pool with little waterfall - separate times for male and female. Only 20 minutes away by car is the lovely craft village Takumi No Sato. Well worth a visit. Only major disappointment was that the wifi did not work in the rooms ( despite what *********** said on our reservation form) so had to go to communal lounge near the office to get reception.

Leaving this review for fellow tattoo-havers to save them the hassle of making an international call: they sadly don't take guests with tattoos :( Was so excited to visit this place, it looks beautiful. I know it's a cultural thing, but I hope this prejudice goes away some time in the future.
