When there was a test drive event for a new ski model, the inn I usually stay at was full, so I went to Minakami and stayed there for the first time. I just checked the price and went there without doing much research. I thought it would be enough if I could eat and sleep, but the inn was better than I expected. The hot spring in the large bath is free-flowing and circulated, but there is no chlorine, so the water was kept in relatively good condition. The family bath that I was able to bathe in the next morning was free-flowing, so this was definitely a step above. The guest room was open and faced the Tone River. It was nice and spacious. I was impressed that I would get grilled crab for dinner at this price (lol). I guess they can do this because it is an inn run by the Public Servant Mutual Aid Association. The other dishes were also freshly cooked and brought to us each time, and although they were not particularly luxurious, they were all delicious. There was a ski drying room next to the front desk, and although it was far from the ski resort, it was perfect for skiing. If there are any vacant rooms, you can use them even if you are not a public servant, so there is no reason not to use them. However, if you expect the kind of hospitality you would expect from a traditional inn or hotel, you will be disappointed, so it's best to keep that in mind. It wasn't that the staff were rude, but the overall service was more like that of a government office.
