Katsumiya (Fukui)

I was very satisfied with being able to eat fresh, locally caught seafood. The room had a relaxing atmosphere with a panoramic view of the ocean. I was able to spend a special time with my special someone. The landlady was also very friendly and easy to talk to. I would like to go again.

I stayed one night in September. Katsumiya is a stunning building that suddenly appears at the fishing port. Upon arriving at the beautiful entrance, the hostess greeted me with a welcome tea and confirmed my meal times. Check-in was easy via Google Form, and I was shown to my room. During the check-in, the hostess carefully explained the details of my stay, including bath hours (until 11 PM and from 6 AM the next morning). Since I arrived after 7 PM, I immediately asked for dinner to be prepared after I dropped off my luggage. The meal consisted of a course menu, consisting of an aperitif, appetizers, soup, sashimi, steamed dishes, grilled dishes, simmered dishes, fried dishes, rice dishes, pickles, miso soup, and dessert. Listening to the hostess's detailed explanations, I was able to fully enjoy the bounty of Fukui's sea and mountains. I also ordered a set of three local Fukui sakes, which perfectly complemented the food! I particularly enjoyed the Hakuryu sake. After filling up, I rested a bit in my room before heading to the bath. As I was the only male guest, I had the spacious bath all to myself, enjoying a truly luxurious stay. It soothed my travel fatigue and allowed me to relax. Apparently, you can bathe while looking out at Wakasa Bay in the morning, but I was so tired that I slept until the last minute and skipped the morning bath. For breakfast, I ate "heshiko," a local specialty, in the cafe space. I was surprised by the sophisticated space, which was completely different from the image of the guesthouses I visited as a child. The jazz music playing in the dining area and the serene view of Wakasa Bay from the cafe space were very pleasant. Outside, I was enveloped in the sounds of birdsong, the scent of the sea, and the faint sound of the waves, which put me in a mindful mood. The landlady's hospitality, the sumptuous food, and the sophisticated facilities made for a truly wonderful stay. Wakasa Mihama is truly a wonderful place!

11/2.家族旅行でお邪魔しました。 おしゃれな建物、素敵なエントランス ウェルカムティーは疲れを癒してくれました。女将さんは気さくでスタッフの皆さんは気持ちのいい方ばかり、何よりお料理は最高でした。ロビーでは女将さんお手製のケーキ～甘さ控えめで美味しかった‼ お部屋の内装、インテリアは私の好みのものでした。旅は宿で決まると思ってます 楽しい旅になりました。 ご近所、お友達に"かつみや"さんのこと話しました。 また次も利用させて頂きます。(伏里)
