Fairfield Inn & Suites Salt Lake City Midvale

This is the 4th time we have stayed at this Fairfield inn. We come to visit my wife's family in the area but like our own place to sleep. I am bonvoy titanium. I have always been upgraded to a king executive suite at this Fairfield Inn. They allow late check out and the room is always clean and well stocked. The beds are amazing, the air blows nice and cold so it is a really nice place to stay. I only gave them 4 stars this time because it feels like they have gone overboard in the cost cutting for covid. The offer only a bag breakfast with a sweet bread, tiny cup of juice, and a fruit. No protein and nothing without sugar. I am diabetic so they offered no breakfast options for me. They dont make up the room unless you stay over 5 nights. But the pool, hot tub/spa and workout room are all open, very clean and everything works great. I'm sure I will be back the next time we are in the SLC area. I hope they expand their breakfast options with some protein options like boiled eggs and some sausage that can be warmed up.
Holiday Inn Express Salt Lake City South-Midvale

Very nice facility, clean and comfortable, and friendly, helpful front desk staff. Good location for access to ski areas. Their “signature hot breakfast” was awful; if not for that, I would have given a five star rating. The turkey sausage patties were like eating shoe leather (I couldn’t eat it, threw it out) and the omelettes were institutional with what looked and tasted like processed cheese inside. I was told they could not serve anything better, that this was a “brand” requirement. Reflects very poorly on the brand, I’d say. Fortunately we were traveling by car and could bring our own breakfast food. I went downstairs every morning to get bananas (which were just-right ripe) to go with the unsweetened yogurt and homemade muffins and granola that we’d brought, so I can’t speak otherwise to the quality of their cold foods.

With this hotel I wasn't expecting too much, the entrance of it was nice enough and enticing for you to want to go in. However once inside, I learned that the early check in can mean that you will be put into their worst room available. And because we were, I had trouble bringing luggage up to the second floor and no they don't have a elevator! But once luggage was brought up, I then had another issue was to figure out how to help my elderly parents up the stairs and how they'd need help down. Also, expect that their rooms will not have working plug ins. We got lucky to have two that worked, and no lights in our rooms worked either. Also the location is so terrible that you will encounter many homeless people, drug addicts and other unfortunate characters. I hate that I brought my family to this place thinking it would be safe and a fun experience, well it sure isn't when you try to take the kids swimming only for older men to walk in their pool area and eye my children as they swim. So be weary always if you end up here at this dump.
