We decided to do a staycation for Father’s Day weekend. We had a good stay here years ago and decided to return. Checkin was fast and smooth but Lin wasn’t very pleasant or friendly like other Marriott brands that I have recently visited. We both noticed that but didn’t worry about it. We liked the modern room. It was clean with a nice view. The pool was very nice with water views. The breakfast buffet was small but good. We were pleasantly surprised with the made to order omelets on Saturday morning. The hotel is in a great location with a Trader Joe’s right across the street and Publix further down. Upon checkout is when everything went sour! At checkout it was Lin again. My wife checked out at the lobby as I loaded the car. She noticed that there were some extra charges on the bill and inquired about it. Someone went to the little market and purchased alcohol and snacks early that morning and charged it to our room. My wife told Lin that we did not purchase anything from the market during our stay. Lin adamantly accused my wife that it had to be her or me that purchased the items and refused do anything further. She then said she had to check the cameras before she removed them, but didn’t have access to them. I don’t know what the process for charging items is when you buy it from the market but I assume someone mentioned our room number instead of swiping a room card. After I loaded the car, I decided to go back inside to get her full name. After Lin saw me waiting to talk to her, she just handed me a new receipt and said rudely “I removed the charges” with an attitude. I said thank you and started walking away. Would you believe she did not even acknowledge me until I turned around and said “that’s rude that you can’t say you’re welcome.” This checkout experience left a sour taste in our mouths after having such a good weekend stay. We could not help but think and talk about this bad check-out experience all day.
