Sonder the Abbey

It may be rated by some but our experience fell well short of the expectations. Firstly our room had vermin of some type in the ceiling that constantly made noise the whole night - yes we reported it but there were no spare rooms so we had to put up with it and mind you it wasn’t quiet - no sleep. Then they couldn’t allocate a room until almost 2pm the following day - so a day completely wasted. They offered a $50 credit offer of goodwill - I was, and I still am, offended by this. The room they moved us into was a standard room and we had paid for a corner room - but at least it was quieter. Although it offers a unique experience they could also offer some sort of drink vending machines, perhaps some type of food vending machine or at least some opportunity to buy something in the foyer or at reception / even a coffee. The entrance is huge so there is no shortage of space. The standard rooms are poky with no room at all for luggage. Very disappointing. They needed to be very clear that the ONLY way to watch TV is through Chromecast - now for international travellers getting channels to work on our paid services in the USA is near impossible - so despite asking at reception, trying so many times we couldn’t watch anything on the TV’s for our stay - nothing - as not even free to air is connected. Our room was very very warm when we arrived. I immediately went to the front desk to tell them. I was assured the technician would fix it. We returned at 7 and were told the technician fixed it. The temperature was exactly the same in the room. i checked the thermostat. Went down to tell them and was told the technician had gone home at 5:30. 🤪 The young man at the front desk came up and told us not to worry it MIGHT cool down in the evening OR HE COULD GIVE SOME FANS TO USE!!! I am sorry miami beach in august in a hotel and we are offered fans. 🤪🤪🤪🤪 He said other guests in the past had accepted the fans without any problem. We had to leave and check into another hotel that gave us a free upgrade after hearing how poorly we were treated at the sonder abbey. Wish I could give less than one star. Avoid at all costs.

i had made a special request about the room number prior with the reservation and when checking in the reserved and paid room was not available! quite stressful after a long flight ! but all was finally arranged after i had to ask for refunding. I do like the hotel except the hotel as no restaurant or room service. I do like the room with a view on the collins park.

Just check out from Abbey and I have to say that was good stay. Everything is hat you need for good price. Room was clean, bed was really big and service was friendly. Bathrooms was modern, shower big. They provided hair dryer, safe and small fridge. Everything what you need.

Neat boutique hotel. Close walking distance to restaurants, park, beach, everything you need. The rooms are modern and well kept. Spacious lobby area with coffee and places to sit. Elevator to get to the top floors. Front desk met us upon our arrival and it was a pleasant experience. Would stay here again if the opportunity presented itself.

Very clean large rooms. Comfortable bed and very close to great restaurants and the beach. This is not a full service hotel but rather a boutique hotel that has few services. Clean good price, will return.

Went there for my anniversary they where extremely accommodating close walk to all food the staff there was amazing the only downfall was there was no pool but we knew that going there it rained one day and we where stuck watching tv but loved it

The whole process from reservation to arrival was flawless. The staff was friendly and the room was above expectations. Would highly recommend it! The location is amazing and I would stay there every time

Loud. Impossible to sleep. Writing this review at 3:00 AM can’t get to sleep. The hotel’s electric room is in the first floor corridos and buzz like a loud pool water pump inside the room. My room is 115, right across from its door. The front office people knows it’s a loud room, and the hotel continues to book it without advising their guests.
