2-Star Hotels in Mexico City

Check the photos...this place has expired. The reviews reflect an old hostel profile. This place is now a transit centre for migrants primarily from Cuba, Venezuela and China intending on crossing the U.S border illegally. It's bar and vending machines are abandoned and most light fittings are empty of bulbs. It is dark and filled with families packed into cramp rooms. Literally a boarding house now. The reviews do not reflect this ”new place”. Staff were fine as was cleanliness, but this place is not safe. I met a man in my room who has his wallet stolen...not surprising as 90% of guests are illegal migrants...

The housing of this hostel is really poor. The quadruple room I booked has a bathroom. The house is so small that two people can't stand down and have no windows. One morning I went out and returned to the room. It ran out of foul smell, the room had no air-conditioning, only one fan was on for 24 hours, and there was only a small pillow on the bed without a sleeping cover. There is no free breakfast and water drinks, and there is a paid restaurant on the ground floor. The hostel is also easily accessible by subway and public buses.

The hotel is in a very nice location, a couple of blocks from Avenida Paseo de la Reforma. The room was very clean and there was a walk-in shower in the bathroom. A nice ce upgrade would be to have USB ports by the nightstand. My issue is with Trip.com. I paid in advance for 3 rooms- one for me and one each for two friends. When I booked the rooms, I listed each of us separately on the online form. I received my confirmation by email and assumed that so did my friends. When we arrived at the hotel, I checked in without issue but when my friends tried to, they were told that no reservation existed for them. This is despite the fact that I had paid by credit card for all three rooms on one transaction. A call to Trips.com did nothing to fix the situation. The reservation number I gave them only had my room listed. My only option now is to dispute the charge once my credit card statement arrives.

Near the historic city, very close to the subway station, walk to the cathedral, the presidential palace about 20 minutes, there are also large supermarkets nearby, the surrounding environment is relatively safe and cost-effective

There is a fast bus at the doorstep of the hotel, which is very convenient for the city centre and bus station. There is a BBQ restaurant next door to the hotel worth recommending. The room was very clean and the hotel has a swimming pool. Recommended

Pros: - Excellent location; - Performing staff; - Mexican breakfast of excellent quality; - Excellent cost benefit. Contras: - Room without air conditioning, if you leave the window open, has noise from the street until 1:00 a.m. and some insects also enter; - Food is menu style, allowed only one dish per person; - Bathroom is wet at the time of the bath, because, The toilet is close to the bathing place; - the couple's bed is small.

It was overall a great stay! Staff are awesome and helpful, activities planned every day so it makes it easy to meet people! Private rooms are secluded (at least the one I stayed at - 111). Definitely had some trouble sleeping at times. This particular bedroom is next to the bathroom which gets cleaned daily at around 5:45-6am and it’s pretty loud for a light sleeper. Another morning someone decided to play the guitar loudly on a Saturday morning at around 8am lol so that was a bummer. Definitely party people come in late but that’s inevitable. Breakfast was delicious, I didn’t try the cocktails though but I imagine they’re tasty, too. Bathrooms and rooms are tidy! Bed was comfy!

It’s been a few weeks since our trip in November, but I cannot stop thinking about it (and how soon I’ll be able to go again). My coworker, and dive master of 20 years, convinced me to get certified and come on a mandatory “company trip”.. 😏.. I was obligated.. It was absolutely incredible. Words can’t describe the beauty of the reefs, wildlife, etc. As beautiful as all that was, however, I feel it my duty to shout out the amazing staff of Hotel Cozumel, exclusively. They’re simply as good of people as you could ever hope to meet. By the time you leave you feel that you’ve sincerely made new friends. I’d like to thank ¡Gustavo, Rellez, Mario, and Cornelio,🍻! for their excellent charisma, professionalism, kindness, and general prowess 👍🏻👍🏻. And a special thanks to Luisa and Keira Valdez 😌🙏🏻 for being especially patient, fun, and accommodating for a bunch of jokers from southeast Missouri 😎🤘🏻. It was just an unforgettable trip! Very good hotel, This came in as a surprise when booking as it was not really recommend, but the hotel location is very central and the staffs are super nice, they are there to help as much as they can! room also clean. the only downside would be the shower as this is showerhead was quite hard and feel like piercing through my skin when showering.
