Katogi Averoff Hotel & Winery

Hotel clean, bed and pillows comfy, shower hot, breakfast absolutely fantastic with all local ingredients and fantastic staff

We had two superior rooms for one night in the week leading to Christmas. It was all very lovely, comfortable, stylish and representative of the area without the over-the-top heavy/wooden look that is so traditional for Metsovo and done to excess elsewhere. The rooms were spacious and had a little balcony with only a side view unfortunately. That, and the fact that some very noisy residents kept us awake way past midnight (indicating that the walls are rather thin), are my only criticisms. The bathrooms were really spacious and the products Caudalie (with minimal plastic packaging). The breakfast was exceptional, with great variety and high quality products, made in situ or sourced by local farmers and their own cheese making business. A great way to start your evening is by having a drink at the cosy bar serving wines and tsipouro from the hotel vineyard. We also visited the shop on the premises and were given a little (20’) tour of the winery. The prices at the shop are excellent, at a small discount. (The same wine that was around €25 in the shop was being sold for €10 more in one of the local produce shops in the town square.) The Romanian lady at reception was very helpful and pleasant, as was all the other staff we came across. All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to return soon ourselves.

Metsovo is beyond beautiful in summer. Its mainly for skiing in winter but a fantastic place to go hiking or enyoing nature in summer. The Katogi is a wonderful place to stay, huge very clean and nicely decorated rooms, friendly people, nice restaurant and fantastic breakfast. Also its a bit out of the busy touristy city center. They have great wines as well. Whats not to like?

Amazing hotel, amazing views, quiet, very very clean and the breakfast was exceptional. This hotel is a must stay when you are in Metsovo. The staff are very friendly the rooms are exceptionally clean and the grounds are beautiful. The hotel is close to the town area where all the restaurants and shops are. You can walk or drive there. The hill going back up is a bit steep but great for some exercise. The breakfast included homemade dishes that were fresh and delicious. We can’t wait to go back.

Just a short walk from the central square/park of Metsovo you'll find the Averoff winery and right next to it the hotel. As it's off centre, it's quiet and you won't have trouble parking your car. Though the construction is modern, it mimics the local architecture and even the decoration in the rooms has a local touch without them loosing anything of their modern comfort. Everything is skilfully designed, even the separate shower in the bathroom, and the whole place is kept spotlessly clean. The breakfast buffet was abundant, though personally I would prefer more local produce (there was indeed cheese, but no eggs) and less cakes. Nevertheless, the pancakes and the cream pie were delicious. Kudos to the staff at the reception desk. Both were very polite and helpful. Having stayed at 8 different places during this trip, Hotel Averoff exceeded all of them and that certainly says a lot.

Stayed here for second time. Very nice hotel for staying. Rooms are cute and in rustic style. But what makes it different is its Winery shop where you can taste and buy really great local wines. Same wines are offered in hotel bar making it ideal for having relaxing time with friends in the evening.
