Mar Hotel Alimuri

Returned yesterday from a week’s stay at Mar Alimuri Hotel. We booked the French balcony sea view room, however the sea view was limited as we were stuck right in the corner of the fourth floor. We did ask to be moved but were told a point blank no by the hotel reception staff who weren’t very friendly or accommodating at all. Neither of the tui reps could help either and the hotel wouldn’t budge and chose to ignore our request!!! On our first day the shower in our room broke, instead of moving us, they gave us a key to an empty room so we could use its shower. Then on the 2nd day the toilet seat fell off, again I was greeted with discontent by reception staff as if I was troubling them again on reporting this!!! The choice of food was limited to a few pasta dishes, but this improved ever so slightly as the week went on. Soft drinks are poured from the litre bottles and are always flat on arrival. The hotel is very dated and in my opinion should be down graded to a 2 or 3 star by tui - a lot of guests staying at the same time as us said the same. There are huge cracks in the marble stairs, cracks in the windows to the restaurant, rusty stair rails, and outdated decor. The corridor to the toilets downstairs smells of damp as the hotel is built in to a cliff and the walls are wet and you can see where the black mould has been wiped away. You can still see mould on the ceiling if you look up. The spa is closed which is hardly surprising. I did wonder if environmental health had closed it down and rang the travel agent before our stay to double check after reading some of the previous reviews, but they hadn’t been given a reason either. The hot water went off for 2 nights in the hotel as well so it meant a cold shower before dinner for most. High 5 to Mother Nature for redeeming this hotel, the views and the sunsets from the terrace are stunning but this is quite possibly one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in.

This hotel could be so much better. Start with the positive Swimming Pool & View Lovely (New Swimming which is lovely) Branded Drinks Spot on Staff all very lovely. Negative Food very poor quality and only just warm, best night was Thursday night. Need to approve on this. Rooms Dated smelt very musty and mould (however having the doors open help with the smell.) Entertainment, need to approve on this, even if background music. The Singer not great. Not great for children not much for them to do or food choice. If you approve on the above this could be a lovely hotel and would do really well.

Excellent setting with great sea views. Excellent friendly hard working staff. No indoor pool or spa and there won't be, it's not closed for repairs it's Closed. Now the negatives. We were shown to room 1002, shocking, had paid extra £250 for sea view and had a view of a gate and an outside toilet. On complaining we were moved to a decent seaview room. The manager made it clear that the cheaper rooms are allocated to TUI customers because TUI pay the hotel the least money for their guests. Shocking.... All inclusive includes all drinks but there were no ice creams At All.. Not in the restaurant, pool bar etc. Very strange No toilets in reception, on the restaurant floor or the pool floor. Food.... Not a lot of choice. Very repetitive. No sauces for salads etc. Speaking to return guests they stated food has deteriorated since the hotel went all inclusive. The poor food is the hotels failing. The pool area is fantastic, quiet with great views and amazing sunsets. Instead of saving on food production they should reduce staff in the restaurant. They only require one floor manager but at times had three and one meal they had 8 staff clearing tables when 4 would be ample. Lots of guests said they would not return because of the food. Many went out for evening meals even on all inclusive because the choices were so repetitive.

We stayed at this hotel with my family. We had a lovely time there a few things were not what we expected 6 different pasta dishes not the greatest all but two desserts through the week were alcohol based and my wife and children didn't like them . We were not informed by tui about the 2 euro tax per person per night so an extra 84 euros on top . Great shuttle bus friendly staff when they could understand me asking for a regular coke and getting a rum and coke lol but apart from that beach great snorkeling seeing all the fish amazing they were doing work but they were improving and I expect by next year will look great . I do t think it's four star but will be when improvements are done

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Alimuri; myself, my husband and our two children (8 and 5). I was hesitant prior to going as the reviews were mixed and we had been placed in the hotel by Tui after our chosen hotel was suddenly unavailable. However, what a beautiful, relaxing stay we have had! We were all inclusive and definitely made the most of it. We enjoyed the food for all meals, which we found to be varied and tasty, and the waiters were fantastic with our children, going out of their way to ensure they were happy and found food they would eat. A special mention must go to Francesco and Amtico who greeted us like long lost friends every time. We stayed in a family suite with a sea view and were blown away by the view. The beds were comfortable and we all slept very well. Our room was refreshed and cleaned and we were left with new towels everyday which was lovely to come back to. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly, always smiling but taking their jobs very seriously. We made the most of the free shuttle bus into Sorrento which takes around 20 minutes and enjoyed the swimming pool and beach. The shuttle does have to be booked and fills up quickly, but if it is full there is a public bus that can be caught just two mins away for two euros per adult and takes around 30 mins. Prepare for the windy, busy roads though! The swimming pool looks to have been recently redone and was beautiful to take a dip in, or in our children’s case jump into and splash about! The new decking was finished on our first day and very quickly put to work with extra sunbeds which was a great addition. We also loved how easily accessible the beach was, although very stony so take beach shoes or wear flip flops! It’s worth mentioning that yes, there are some parts of the hotel that are looking a little tired but it was very clear they are working on these parts to make the necessary improvements. The spa was closed for refurbishment during our stay but personally this didn’t impact us as we wouldn’t have used it anyway. I wouldn’t hesitate to return and really hope my review highlights how wonderful the hotel is. Thank you for a brilliant week!
