Kyriad Prestige Bordeaux Ouest - MÉRIGNAC

After a long day on the road, our flight was leaving at 7:30 the next morning. All we wanted was to eat dinner in a hotel near the airport, and take the shuttle the next morning, this is why I reserved at this hotel, about a month in advance. Weren't we surprised when we learned that the restaurant is not open on weekends, and that although the web site indicates that there is a free shuttle to/from the airport, this service is no longer available. I had to make arrangements with Hertz to drop off the car a day later, and we had to find a restaurant in the area, which was also difficult. I am not sure if restaurants close during the school holiday, but it seemed that one out of two restaurants in the area was closed on a Saturday night. For the rest, the rooms are ordinary, the carpets could be refreshed. We spent a week in Basque Country in 4-star and 5-star hotels, and the Kyriad Prestige definitely doesn't disserve 4 stars. What a disappointment!

We had booked this hotel for 7 days. There is a tramline into Bordeaux that goes from outside the hotel and takes about 30 minutes. We bought a 7 day ticket and used it every day so excellent value but the trams are very busy sometimes so we had to stand on some trips. If you're staying here and don't want to use the tram then you'll definitely need a car as it's basically on the side of the motorway. Staff were very friendly and helpful when we checked in. Rooms are big and clean. Nice and quiet. Loads of parking. Breakfast was okay. The pool is very small (not really big enough to swim in it) and not heated so we didn't use it. Overall a nice hotel, but probably more suited for business use or stop overs due to location.
