We decided on Acqua in Bocca after searching on line for a hotel 1) within walking distance of places we wanted to see and 2) with plenty of fresh air and a small number of rooms to limit contact with large groups. This place fulfilled and exceeded our expectations. The hotel entrance and long, narrow lobby are unassuming, but lead to expansive interior gardens and a gorgeous pool, which is illuminated in changing colours at night. Our room was very large and well-appointed, with good quality linens, good internet connection, and plenty of room for everything. We never needed to take a taxi to tour Merida, because the hotel was an easy walk to both the main plazas and the Paseo Montejo and other destinations. The entire facility was extremely tasteful, clean, and well-maintained. We stayed for an extended visit and would have happily continued for an even longer time . The owner was extremely attentive, helpful and generous, and the staff are pleasant and thorough. One caveat - People with mobility issues may want to check for a ground floor rooom, as there is no elevator.
