This was our first time in Menorca and we despatately craved tranquillity after a prolonged period of work pressures. S’Algar is a very serene location, snd easily accessible to Mahon for day trip via local transport. To get around we travelled independently on local buses - there is a bus stop right outside the hotel. All buses were super clean, efficient, and with friendly drivers who all speak excellent English if you flounder with your Spanish. The AluaSun Med is part of a suite of sister hotels which share amenities. This resort was up the hill, chilled out but had lots to offer. Generally it was nice and quiet. We were self-catering. Go for apartment with sea view but beware the water cadence of kids fountain is very noisy - sounds like a constant downpour. There is entertainment - and it started and finished on time. (Artists were better than anticipated. Mark Bosch was an accomplished solo saxophonist displaying his own creative twist on classic hits). The pool is a weird shape but great - it was well maintained - cleaned and checked every morning from 7.30am. (It could open earlier than 10am though). At weekends it was overrun with kids - (who really should use their own dedicated pool). Copious supply of sun-beds and no rude behaviours of people claiming and hogging. As for the accommodation, we paid for a villa but requested a sea view and a quieter part of the site. We got an upper apartment with a sea view - very nice! The only noise was the kids fountain area (could be sensored or limited to certain hours). The apartment was clean and spacious, and well designed and laid out. There was no oven or coffee maker in kitchen but there is a microwave (we don’t use them), a fridge, and everything else - including a cleaning pack. Beds had solid mattresses. I prefer that. Great housekeeping and front of desk staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. A big shout out to Crisina our housekeeper, and Arneu & Irene at Reception who were perfect hosts. Arneu had meticulous knowledge of the Camino walking routes - they take you directly to Menorca’s coastal gems. We didn’t try the restaurant but the menu looked good. A couple of shops are within walking distance for essentials and souvenirs. A revelatory first visit to this charming island and these lovely people - the resort offers a microcosm of that and Catalan pride of place so for that I’ll forgiving them the kids fountain and give 5/5.

We had an amazing holiday! From the moment we arrived we were greeted by Aranu on reception who was very friendly, he told us everything we needed to know and then escorted us to our room. We had a one bedroom apartment with a fabulous seaview! It was incredibly spacious, with a lovely kitchen area, it had everything you needed for a self catering stay. We also had a pool view from the kitchen window. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean and well maintained. The pool was lovely and there was plenty of choice of sun beds, no rush in the morning like on previous holidays. There also had a small children’s pool and a small splash park. They also had a kids club hut, but I never seen that open. They did Aqua aerobics every evening around 6pm followed by a kids disco for around half an hour. We ate a few times at the hotel restaurant, the food was delicious and the staff were all lovely! Alberto and Marlon served us many times. The lady was also lovely and friend but don’t know her name. The area is very quiet but we liked that, there is one restaurant down the road that we ate at a couple of times, the food again was really nice. There is also a small supermarket next to that restaurant that will deliver the shopping and give you a lift back up to the hotel, this was amazing and the staff were both friendly. The shop was also reasonably priced. We got a taxi to Punta Prima one evening, it was about €12 each way, the hotel also offers a free shuttle there most days. We also caught the bus into Mahón for the day right outside the hotel, it was €1.80 each way. Half way through our stay we went to the sister hotel and found that the restaurant does an all you can eat buffet which also includes soft drinks, wine and beer in the €18 per adult price, it’s half price for kids age 2-12! This was a great find as it was €63 for our family where we paid over €100 previous evenings for meals and drinks, at our hotel and in Punta Prima. The sister hotel also had evening entertainment which was really good, there is a short cut to the hotel along the pathways through the houses. We also found a lovely area to snorkel next to the hotel, you have to climb over the wall and make your way down the cliff but it’s worth the walk, we had a great time swimming in the sea, and jumping off the rocks. We all had the best time and we would definitely recommend it. I am a travel agent and have been away many times, I think this hotel is amazing, for a very chilled out holiday. The only thing that put us off was the amount of mosquitos! However I did take a repellant spray and found that worked well! My husband however didn’t use it and he got loads of bites. I also took a plug in repellant diffuser, so make sure you pack some. We were also able to use a curtsey room on the day we left. Thank you for a lovely holiday, we will try and return again in the future. It’s a real shame you don’t have 2 bedroom apartments, as we normally go away with our other son, he didn’t

A well kept resort with very polite staff and a wonderful swimming pool. It is a bit remote and so reasonable health is beneficial although the hotel does supply a minibus to the beach at Punta Prima and a road train to the other Alua Hotels in S'Algar. Overall a lovely resort to relax in the sun.

Myself, my partner and our 7 year old spent a week here in late September/Early October and had a brilliant time. Bungalow was equipped with everything we needed and the staff couldn't be more helpful. The Restaurant/Bar was extremely good value and the food was very good. Would highly recommend

Lovely complex Here now , and every thing is good, apartment. Spotless, reception so helpful , bar staff excellent . We are SC , but enjoy eating in ala carte restaurant. I’m writing this while I’m here , for a reason . One review stated pool didn’t appear to be cleaned and checked . I would suggest to that lady , you weren’t up early enough !!! Both mornings pool is cleaned and a sample of water is taken and checked , as it should be . It’s a quiet place for a holiday , a little out of the village , but supermarket in the square will deliver and also give you a lift back to the complex . A good start for a lovely holiday .

The resort is quiet in September, perfect for our holiday sitting by the pool reading. Love the breakfast meal especially!

If you want a relaxing holiday this is the place to visit, plenty of room on sunbeds around the pool. Unlike other hotels on the island, where you are packed in like sardines
