Hotel del Almirante

The accommodation provides comfortable rooms with harbor views, spotless cleanliness, and friendly staff. It also offers a variety of dining options and convenient location for exploring the island.

The hotel was immaculate. All areas clean and tidy. Staff were helpful and friendly. We had a awesome time and would book again. The pool area although not huge was lovely. A few tweaks could make it even better. Tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms would be nice. As bar shuts from 3 ,to 5 and there is nowhere to even get a bottle of water.We went half board, but unfortunately the evening meal was not up to standard, this did impact our view of the hotel somewhat. Would we return, a definite yes but only b and b.

There is no denying this hotel is lovely and the staff are all extremely friendly and polite. The rooms are cleaned daily and the hotel itself is immaculate. Unfortunately the clientele of this hotel is retirees whom return year after year to role play as though they own the place. They sit reading and should you dare make a noise you are met with a very disapproving glare. There aren't enough sunbeds around the pool nor are there anywhere near enough bistro table and chairs outside the rooms situated by the pool. We were in a room in the main house and we were woken every morning around 2.30am onwards by cockerels nearby. They go on for hours and hours. We were also practically above the bar so we heard barrels being moved and chairs being scraped, sometimes upto closing time. Es Castell is literally a tiny harbour with some overpriced seafood restaurants around it. Most of these are fully booked so it can be difficult to just walk in. There's nothing else there. Everything in Es Castell and Mahon close at about 2pm till 5pm then reopen at 5pm. The hotel lacks any atmosphere. As we were leaving a family with children booked in. The regulars were mortified and actually went to reception to ask how long they had booked for! They were then chirping it's a respectable establishment, seemingly forgetting their nightly walk from the bar to their room clinging to the wall as they were 4 bottles of plonk deep. It's not a place to relax at all. We enjoyed getting the bus and getting about the island. It's also the first time I've never been able to get a late check out, wasn't an issue but you have to leave your belongings right in reception. When I asked about late check out I was told they're fully booked, ok I get that but to then follow on with " good for business, not for customers". All the people returning thinking the managers are their friends...! If you want a bit of life do yourselves a favour and go to Saint Tomas or Punta Prima. Much nicer area and less pretentious people.
