The Kings Arms Hotel

Terrible breakfast. Worst I’ve ever had and same applied to all in the group. Very slow service and small portions. Cold, undercooked bacon which was obviously left over from the day before- had to send it back to be cooked thoroughly and it then arrived burnt. ‘Toast’ was bread with a couple of char burn marks across it and cold. No baked beans on offer and overpriced at £17 a head.

We encountered a few problems during our stay but thanks to the excellent response from the management, our faith in the Kings Arms was restored and we will certainly look forward to staying again. The facilities are lovely and the level of cleanliness throughout is superb. The location was great and Melksham is a delightful town of historical interest, well worth a visit.

From check in to departure everything was faultless. Staff exceptionally pleasant. Food good value and tasty Beds comfortable. Rooms well appointed and spacious. The Kings Arms has blended quirky with modern very effectively. Definitely stay again

We regularly stay here if in the area, the room was clean and had a comfortable bed. Breakfast was cold, eggs overcooked, in fact had a tummy upset afterwards. My husbands breakfast was also cold as was the table next to ours. The breakfast has been declining since being taken over by Butcombe , used to have a pastry and cooked options and offered more coffee , now charge extra for full cooked breakfast and extra for a pain au chocolate etc.. However we did receive a part refund . Extremely disappointed.

We stayed here on a Sunday between Christmas and New Year when visiting family in Wiltshire. Very welcoming staff/manager and they offer an express check in service - I received a text on morning of check in with link to do this. Our room was smart, clean and tidy and looked out over the High Street. Tea/coffee and fresh milk is in the room and it’s proper filter coffee too. Our room was very welcoming. Bedside lamps on, radio quietly playing and blinds pulled down. En-suite bathroom had shower gel, shampoo and hand cream and was clean and warm. Had a lovely night’s sleep and breakfast was included in the price (£103 for a double room for two). Good selection of breakfasts plus tea and coffee - excellent service as well. The car park is at the back of the hotel and we did miss it initially as it’s tucked back a bit. As a customer you don’t have to pay but need to check your registration plate in at reception. If you have any restrictions re: climbing stairs then I’d recommend avoiding rooms 9 & 10. They are both up some very steep stairs that curve. This is an old building so it’s expected that this type of thing exists and the rooms have character as well as being super cosy. We will definitely stay here again when visiting family in Wiltshire.
