Farlam Hall Hotel & Restaurant

My Husband & had Afternoon Tea and stayed for 1 night as a treat. It's a wonderful hotel, great service, excellent food, beautiful gardens & a very peaceful nights sleep in a lovely room overlooking the front of the hotel. Thank you Farlam Hall

We heard about Farlam Hall after hearing about Hrishi Desai's new venture. We already knew his food was beyond amazing so we decided to celebrate our Anniversary there. The new Bistro Enkel is delicious and because we stayed on a Tues and Wednesday, it meant we could experience Enkel and The Cedar Tree. We found the rooms too hot, even with the windows open. With no air con, a fan should be in every room. We had room 6, which has a fabulous view of the actual Cedar Tree in the grounds of Farlem. We felt very welcome, the staff are wonderful and we were very well looked after. The receptionist recommended some lovely walks, to see Hadrian's Wall and Talkin Tarn. Fabulous bathroom. No long mirror. We seemed to be the youngest there, despite being in our 50's, and we found that wanting to enjoy a cocktail after our evening meal meant we were the only ones in the lounge, which then lacked atmosphere and the background noise of chitter chatter. We were not pressured in any way to leave or feel awkward. They welcomed us to having a nightcap but everyone else had gone to bed. All in all, it was a wonder experience. Very calm, very chilled, beautiful gardens. It was also lovely that we had a good chat with one of the gardeners...thank you! Comfy beds, great pillows. Beautiful hotel - thebuilding and grounds.

Absolutely delighted with our stay. We have always been a fan of Hrishkesh Desai when he was at the Gilpin. Seeking him out we have not been disappointed on so many levels. The menu was a triumph. A sensory experience full of flavour. Each dish a culinary work of art. The bar has a fantastic selection of interesting cocktails and well balanced wine list, all expertly managed by Alex. The service is impeccable and everyone we interacted with was friendly and attentive. We have already booked our next visit Thank you Team Farlam Hall

The first time we have stayed and the staff were lovely, service excellent and the bistro food very good .... shame we missed the full culinary experience (it was a Sunday so the full set menu was not available) of Hrishi who is an excellent chef. Breakfast was first class too.

Perfect from start to finish. Beautiful room. Staff went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Amazing dining, the food is exquisite, the chefs really are perfectionists. It was just as perfect as last time and we will be back again!

The Cottage at Farlam Hall was a magnificent stay. We all wished that we could have stayed for several more days just to enjoy the property. The spacious rooms and top end furnishings were excellent. The grounds were beautiful and perfect for a stroll or just taking in the view. Most of all, the staff went above and beyond at every turn. They assisted us with our plans and helped us with the logistics of our car rentals. . I cannot thank them enough. Lastly, we dined at Cedar Tree, which is an experience you must not miss. The food and the service exceeded our expectations. I don’t think I have ever had such a delightful meal. If you have the opportunity to stay at Farlam Hall do not pass it up.

Wonderful meal prepared and served by attentive professional staff. Wine selection along with explanation on the pairing by the sommelier was equally as good. Would recommend along with a stay at the hotel at Farlam Hall. Overall a fantastic experiance.

A wonderful welcoming restful and beautifully-decorated hotel. Our bedroom was beautiful with extremely comfortable beds, delivering a great nights sleep. But o wow - the food is sensational, cannot say how amazing it was. And finally the friendly and helpful staff must get a special mention too.

We were so pleased to be able to visit at last. The whole stay was excellent, from the initial check in, the rooms, all the staff and of course an outstanding and memorable dinner. Having dined locally at the Gilpin Windermere for over 30 years we were so disappointed when Hrishikesh left ( in our opinion by far the best chef they have ever had) , but pleased that he had only moved only an hour or so North to Farlam so we were able to visit, stay and have a superb dinner. The food had elevated to an even higher level than when he was at the Gilpin . The atmosphere in the hotel was 'relaxed country house', not stuffy or formal but a friendly attentive front of house team. The bedrooms were very spacious and tastefully furnished . A big thanks to all the team for making our stay at Farlam Hall very special!
