Hotel Restaurant Zur Post

After a tour of the abbey, we wandered down into Melk proper for some lunch. We were lucky to discover this restaurant! Friendly staff, a very interesting menu mixing Austrian and contemporary cuisine and all so delicious. I had the cream of must soup and the vegetarian ravioli wirh creme brulee to top it off. My friend had the beef bouillon, octopus tartare and creme brulee.

We stayed here middle of December 2024 and enjoyed every moment of our stay and the charming town of Melk. The staff is warm and welcoming, the room was clean and lovely, and the food was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the warm and cozy pub room and breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The staff is eager to please and we highly recommend Hotel Restaurant zur Post.

A beautiful hotel, we treated ourselves to one of the best rooms for the night and it was stunning. Really classy, huge, spotless room and en-suite. The best hotel room we have stayed in. The staff were just lovely, really kind and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, choice of everything you could think of, it was delicious. A real treat, it was great value. loved our stay here. Hotel Zur Post Hotel was an outstanding example of hospitality! When we checked in, the owner's sister, Ursula could not have been kinder. She helped us in multiple ways and then we settled in to coffee and cake in the little front restaurant. The breakfast was delicious and included the best homemade apricot jam and much personal service by the owner, Marguerite. This was a memorable stay in the lovely village of Melk. It had that feel of an owner who really cares about her property and her guests. And Melk was wonderful!

We drove along the Danube on a slow 2 lane road and arrived in Melk early in the afternoon. We were able to park in the free parking lot behind the building and check in early. We had a nice large room with air conditioning and after we rested awhile we walked up the steps to The Stift Melk--The Old Benedictine Abbey of Melk. We had a nice dinner and breakfast in the hotel's restaurant.

We had an excellent stay at Zur Post. The room was comfortable and bigger than anticipated. The breakfast was a real highlight - don’t miss the apricot cake or the homemade apricot jam. We also used the bikes to ride on the south bank of the Danube. The ride was beautiful going on the river and winding through vineyards and orchards. Make sure to stop at a heuriger or two along the way.
