The Parkmore Hotel

Parkville|0.68km from Melbourne Zoo
Let's start with what is good about this business- * New carpets in the rooms/hallways * New furniture in reception * New beds/linen/TVs/lamps in the rooms * The location is unsurpassed- walking distance to the Women's hospital AND numerous parks, Brunswicks nightlife and shopping district * The carpark is generous * The staff are pleasant But then... what's bad? * No bins in the bathroom * Not enough power points in the rooms in convenient locations ( We all have to charge devices these days) * The pool looked lovely until you realise that in mid-Summer... it's not clean * Value is poor- I understand tennis is on in Melbourne so the motels are set at a premium... but really? Mid renovations and unfinished rooms... and they feel they can put the price up??That reflects badly on the management of this location because it's opportunistic in all the wrong ways. * Rooms are not maintained during your staff- beds were not made when we returned from our day out ... and then the ugly! * The water literally wasn't on in the morning... due to the lack of presence of hot water, we had learned to turn the taps on and let it run for a few minutes... but on the second morning here it literally stopped and no water came out for about five minutes. Thinking it was safe once the water returned, I showered, only for it to stop for about 20 seconds mid shower * Water for the shower runs hot and cold... literally mid-shower * Renovations are occurring like other reviewers have noted and there is clutter in the hallways It's not a motel that one would return to in a hurry, but if they manage to make good on their renovations and revitalise the outside areas ... it has potential to be something special.

Parkville Motel
3.6/5101 Reviews
The location of the hotel is only one street away from the downtown area. At night, it feels very different. There are a lot less pedestrians on the road in front of the motel. But the benefit is relatively quiet. The parking in the yard is free, enough parking, breakfast is not available. The facilities are quite comprehensive and they are old. The little brother at the reception actually said a few simple Chinese.
Clocktower Apartment Hotel

It is equipped with a stove, a refrigerator, a washing machine, a bowl and a pot. It is very convenient. I bought six boxes of eggs in a small supermarket and burned them myself. The hotel has no breakfast to eat on the street, in the supermarket.
Miami Hotel Melbourne
4.3/5120 Reviews
We chose the Miami because it was very close to the venue we were going to see a live show at. What a gem. Right from our arrival, staff were helpful and friendly. Nothing seemed too much trouble. We were given an upgrade that gave as a fabulous view of the city. Our room was large, bed very comfortable, bathroom well appointed (they even had shaving cream), couple of chairs to sit on and, one thing we love, mugs for tea or coffee. Everything was spotless. WiFi was good. There is parking on site at a fee. Some undercover but also spaces for those higher vehicles that can’t fit underneath. There is a guest kitchen which would be great for longer stays. We stayed on a Friday night and had no noise issues. Cafes, pubs and restaurants are all within walking distance and a tram stop is just down the road. On our trips into town, we usually stay at a much more expensive hotel but from now on the Miami will be our go to property. Very reasonably priced, great staff and comfortable beds, what more could you ask for?

Park Squire Motor Inn & Serviced Apartments
4/5117 Reviews
Park Squire Motor Inn and Serviced Apartments We stayed here for 1 night as we live in the country and had a wedding to attend in Ascot Vale. We originally thought we would catch the tram outside the motel to the venue but ended up getting a taxi because I’m really too old to be wearing high heels! It was great that we could leave our car in the secure car park. The motel is situated on an extremely busy road and intersection so we were worried about the noise. We COULD hear the traffic noise in the distance but not as bad as I thought it would be. And we didn’t hear anything at night. All the rooms that I could see were up a flight of stairs with no lift which would be problematic for people with mobility issues. I do believe they have some ground floor accomodation but didn’t see it. It was fine for us in our 70s. Check in was easy with the friendly staff and we set off to find our room. To tell the truth, the exterior has seen better days. I remember the motel back in the 60s! But we were pleasantly surprised on finding our room. It looked clean and modern. There was a queen and a single bed. I don’t know what sort of room description to give it. I thought we had just booked an ordinary room. There was a reasonably sized TV, 2 club chairs, a fridge and coffee making facilities. We were also happy about the free wifi. The beds were comfortable for us as we like a medium mattress. The bathroom was modern and clean. We enjoyed our stay and will stay here again.
Melrose Apartments
4.6/528 Reviews
Starting with amenities. There are none. Self contained kitchenettes, Not full sized but everything or almost everything is available. It certainly doesn’t fit the description of an apartment. Now everything is small and closed in especially the balcony. Tiny. Don’t ask about parking. There is none unless you want to pay for your compact vehicle to go into the rumpus room of the building. Now the biggest faux pas is the fact that the Victorian State housing blocks are right opposite the Melrose. This is great if you have selected the not free parking and you wish to make an insurance claim. The owner has issues with the locals. The proprietor has many issues with the truth. It has water views for certain if you are in the kitchen or bathroom. If you have caught on by now you should understand there are many misleading statements which simply are not true. Count how many you can find. Yup heaps. Now stay elsewhere if you value peace of mind. Oh and truth in advertising. Watching TV is a guaranteed way of getting a bad back. Beds are far from comfy.
