Our stay at the Parkhotel Du Sauvage was excellent. We received a warm welcome. The room was tidy, and it was cleaned frequently throughout our stay. There were many choices at breakfast. Thankfully, we were able to get our coffee from a fully automatic coffee machine (many hotels usually serve instant or filter coffee). The bread and croissants were always fresh. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I don't understand why we paid so little for such great service; in my opinion, it could have been better. We highly recommend it!

The hotel is very conveniently located near the train station in Meilingen. Moreover, its overall environment is very stylish, with many retro things. The room is also clean and hygienic. You can see the beautiful scenery by opening the window. It is very good.

We stayed here for two nights whilst trekking the Via Alpina route. We were very pleasantly surprised at the level of accommodation, our room was large and airy, well furnished with the most comfortable bed and, unusually, tea and coffee making facilities. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful and breakfast was plentiful and varied, taken in a very grand dining room. The hotel is a beautifully preserved example of the old fin de siecle hotels once inhabited by the well to do of europe. Many interesting artefacts and pictures. We weren't able to eat evening meal here as the hotel only caters for large groups but that wasn't a problem as there are plenty of restaurants in Meiringen. Well worth a stay and close to the Sherlock Holmes museum which is also well worth a visit.

Nice hotel with very frendly People. Nice food and big room. I like the style of the building very much. The breakfast was great and our room was cleaned every day. In the basement there are possibilitys to dry your ski's and shoes. There is also a nice Irish pub.

We had one night here en route to the south, but would like to come back and explore the area further. We thought that the room rate and breakfast were excellent value, particularly for Switzerland. The hotel has been well maintained to a good 4 star level (it's a 5 star review, but for a 4 star hotel). Nice, old fashioned decor (1890s Belle Epoque meets 1980s), lovely people at reception, a grand room for the restaurant (not used) and for breakfast) and very comfortable beds. We will return!

On a European motorcycle tour, stopped by chance in Meiringen, & by great fortune, stayed a night in this wonderful hotel. Reminiscent of opulence and grandeur from another time, the welcome raised me high, the room exceeded expectation. I'm still smiling thinking of the delicious dinner and breakfast, & the view of the Reichenbach Falls from my window. The camaraderie in the Green Harp Bar will stay with me. The best hotel I've ever stayed in. I hope to return!

What can I say about this stay? A disaster? Yes, but not only that... Why a disaster? I stayed at the Park Hotel from Friday to Sunday. Living more than 2 hours away, I tried to call reception to let them know that I wouldn't arrive before 8 p.m.... but no one answered after 1 p.m.! So I sent a message... but the messages go unread and only received an automatic reply. When I arrived, the receptionist (unpleasant) told me that it was too late to eat because the kitchen closed at 8 p.m.... it was exactly 8:04 p.m.!!! After insisting, I was offered a hamburger in the pub below the hotel, instead of the 3-course menu provided in my half-board. At the time, I was angry, but the next day, when I saw what the 3-course menu consisted of, I regretted my Hamburger: it was a salad, gnocchi with Bolognese sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream... so a cost price probably around 5 Swiss francs... a real shame... and of course no possibility of changing a dish on the menu, even for spaghetti!!! Why not...? Well, I must say that the location of the hotel is perfect, that its Art Nouveau look is magnificent (for those who like this style), that the room was very beautiful and that the breakfast was very decent. And the staff (apart from the receptionist) very courteous. Conclusion: I went to the Park Hotel in Meiringen through a Tour Operator (Eurotours Ges.m.b.H. and the Aldi chain) which offers a half-board stay while the Park Hotel is a Garni Hotel. So go on your own, eat in the city (there are plenty of restaurants), enjoy the location and the hotel rooms and AVOID HALF BOARD and the extremely restrictive kitchen hours!

The overnight stay was a disappointment! Four stars – incomprehensible! Reception was unfriendly. Room: not ready until 4:00 p.m., lack of towels, sink drain clogged. The price for a family room, at over CHF 400.00, was disproportionate. The room was very small, with barely any storage space for three people, and poor lighting in the bathroom. A shame – a venerable house with history – more could be done with it.
