What can I say about this stay? A disaster? Yes, but not only that... Why a disaster? I stayed at the Park Hotel from Friday to Sunday. Living more than 2 hours away, I tried to call reception to let them know that I wouldn't arrive before 8 p.m.... but no one answered after 1 p.m.! So I sent a message... but the messages go unread and only received an automatic reply. When I arrived, the receptionist (unpleasant) told me that it was too late to eat because the kitchen closed at 8 p.m.... it was exactly 8:04 p.m.!!! After insisting, I was offered a hamburger in the pub below the hotel, instead of the 3-course menu provided in my half-board. At the time, I was angry, but the next day, when I saw what the 3-course menu consisted of, I regretted my Hamburger: it was a salad, gnocchi with Bolognese sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream... so a cost price probably around 5 Swiss francs... a real shame... and of course no possibility of changing a dish on the menu, even for spaghetti!!! Why not...? Well, I must say that the location of the hotel is perfect, that its Art Nouveau look is magnificent (for those who like this style), that the room was very beautiful and that the breakfast was very decent. And the staff (apart from the receptionist) very courteous. Conclusion: I went to the Park Hotel in Meiringen through a Tour Operator (Eurotours Ges.m.b.H. and the Aldi chain) which offers a half-board stay while the Park Hotel is a Garni Hotel. So go on your own, eat in the city (there are plenty of restaurants), enjoy the location and the hotel rooms and AVOID HALF BOARD and the extremely restrictive kitchen hours!
